Hey all. My girlfriend and I have been talking about living the skoolie life for a couple months. I posted my motorcycle for sale and it sold at the end of march. I already had a bus lined up and drove 4 hours the next day to look at it.
I ended up getting the bus. After a few days of having it home I realized that I didn't do enough research into things like optimal transmission and rear end gear ratio for long distance travel. I also looked past the amount of rust the bus had. It also wasn't quite big enough at 29ft from bumper to bumper.
I decided to try and sell the bus and take another chance. It sold in about a week and I already had my sights on a Mechanical Dt466 with a 5 spd manual trans.
Two days later I was riding 5 hours to go pick the bus up. I had a long list of things to check for on the bus. It exceeded my expectations and came with maintenance logs from 0 miles to 140k miles.
I bought it and drove it home. I am beyond happy with the new bus and glad I took a chance at selling the one I had to find something that will last and do what I need it to.
Welcome and really nice find there. Give us the details on it. Mine is similar but a Bluebird, GMC and the much hated Cat, which I love! Standards are pretty rare nowdays but I hope it woks well for you.
