I can't suggest how you can change the programming without Allison helping, which, for reasons only they understand, requires the consent of BB.

I'm sure there are techs out there who could do it, but I don't know any. If you find one, don't publicise their details, but do share them if requested privately
I have put about 1000 miles on the bus driving interstate highways. It does good. I can run 67mph all day long. I don't need to go any faster. I would like to drop the RPMs a bit at highway speeds though. I suspect that, with the way I use the bus, if I did both I would rarely use 6th gear.

Christopher: if you take the class, I am sure that there will be a few of us that would be most happy to contribute to your education fund in exchange for programming.

OK I have to share a little bit more of the update. After all of this was done I went to ask how much I owed them. The technician had quoted me 150 but it turned out to be a lot more involved since there were multiple sessions and going back-and-forth with Allison. I was expecting it to be may be a little bit more than what they quoted but he said I didn't owe them anything! I couldn't believe it and it completely made my day which was also already going well! To cap it all off during the drive home I got a text back from the company doing the foam and they were willing to knock $200 off of their earlier quote for applying the two-part foam. I'm having a good day!

Congrats, did you have the impression that the communication with allison was required because the tech was inexperienced or did he need to give the allison folks the pre 6 gear parameters in the TCM ?

I have a lot better understanding of the whole process now than I did going into it. It is essentially about three things: the first is having the correct computer interface for the TCM module. I'm pretty sure it is proprietary Allison hardware. The second is the CIN code. You have to pull the CIN code that pre-exists on the TCM and send that to Allison. They send you back a new CIN code which is then downloaded in to the TCM. Once the TCM knows what CIN it has, it has to request the data that corresponds to that to update the shift programming. A laptop queries Allison's database and pulls down the necessary data and sends it to the TCM. I still may not fully understand the process but I think it's unlikely you would be able to do it with out either being part of Allisons ecosystem or reverse engineering their software.

If there is any Silver-lining at least you already have a better gear ratio then I do in mine. With my 6 to 1 rear end I couldn't really even make it up to more than about 63 without winding the motor out much faster than it really should cruise.

What an eventful day! I went to fill it to see what my new gas mileage might be. I went ahead and filled the tank all the way for the first time. It took about $215 worth of diesel fuel. I ran out to Lowe's to pick up a load of lumber in the bus and noticed when I got there that it was leaving a puddle of diesel. Actually probably not a puddle but it was definitely dripping. After taking a look at the situation I realized it doesn't seem to be leaking while the vehicle is still, so it must have to do with the sloshing and probably the filler neck or hose. Do any of you have experience on troubleshooting a scenario like this? Realistically I only think it leaked a few ounces of diesel but it makes your heart drop when you see all that Fuel that you put in starting to come out and possibly cause a a major issue as well as spill out all that expensive fuel.

Did you run the pump wide open when filling or fill slowly? Pumping diesel is different than pumping gasoline. I think you may just have expansion problems if you filled it right to the brim.
Sure wouldn't hurt to snoop around and crawl under to see what the situation is. Maybe your tank has a hole near the top somewhere alsoo so you could burn the fuel out or pump some out into another can.

It was a slow pump so I'm sure if filled to full. Took 93 gallons. Gonna pull the access panel as soon as I can and see what I can find.
