Well I’ve gotten a bit slowed down working to finish the ceiling. I must confess I really hate working with this thin luan.

Quite difficult to get good butt joints and I’m trying to finalize a trim strategy to cover them and help even out mismatches in height.

Current plan is pvc lattice. Like this.

This seems silly but it is working. My efforts to keep the ceiling as low profile as possible has limited my ability to create attachment points and the 1/8” luan warps easily. I’m kind of floating in this section of ceiling. Lapping the luan from above to create an attachment flange for the middle section. Then spraying great stuff above as a kind of shimming glue, then using prop rods from the floor to brace at correct height until great stuff cures.



So close to done, but not today.

Donated some blood to the bus today when a Phillips screw slipped and I got my finger pretty good with the drill. Oops.

I put an 1/8" drill bit through my thumbnail and thumb today when it broke? Best way to get it out was put the drill in reverse.
Didn't lose the nail but it's got awhile with a band aid.

I hadn’t thought of filling in that space. I suppose it would be possible that varmints could get in there. I’m afraid there may be quite a few places in the bus where something might be able to get in and fit. I guess I was counting mostly on the fact that spray foam isn’t super hospitable to keep them away but maybe I need to think more seriously about sealing all cracks and voids. Do any of you have build experience on having problems with these things and or ways to make sure to mitigate to them?

At least in this case and/or area I think a few beads of caulk would likely make it difficult to impossible to enter.

Spent the rest of the evening rebuilding this box. Plenty strong but visually crooked. So frustrating on a bus where nothing is square and level. Unfortunately it doesn’t mean that you can just slap it together!

Roughing in the kitchen cabinets. Planning to use some free cycled walnut from a table for the counter.

Used a Kreg tool for a bunch of this. Really cool!

You can stuff it into any openings that might be a potential entrance or pathway for rodents. Full size mice can squeeze through an opening the size of a dime.

Most of the time my wife helps with research and purchasing, but it was nice to have her on the bus sanding this walnut sheet!



I think it’s gonna look nice!



Had to press pause for a minute when I realized I had no idea how to build a cabinet. I will not be a cabinetmaker’s cabinetmaker, but I think I’m getting the hang of it.

Tricky parts here were figuring how the kickpanel recess would work with the base and transition into the side of the oven. Oven is supposed to arrive tomorrow...

Sounds like a great idea.

I can't do it because all my panels are perforated steel, but I could use them for door panels in the cabinets.
