It pulls the brake pedal on what, the bus or the Jeep?

It applies the brakes in the Jeep.

That way if it has, for some reason, broken free and is speeding down the interstate on it’s own, the brakes have been applied and it will stop instead of rolling until it hits something.

Yes, I don’t have the link handy, but if you search for ready stop rs-5000 jeep toad you will find a YouTube video on it.

Finally circling back to the kitchen.

Not bad for a freehand router cut! Never tried something like this before and was nerve racking!



With roundover bit.



With faucet added.

It looks like you were circling the drain on that cut.

There was an easier way to do this, for future reference

Fasten the sink down and temporarily attach the top.

Use an edging bit ... they have a bearing on the bottom that would run inside the sink ... finish with the bead bit.

My next harebrained idea is making a servo controlled drawer that will house my generator. Just push a button and it will slide out from the skirt.

Very interested in this. I have a bunch of "push button" ideas that are similar. Where did you get the gear rack?

You can buy drawer slides with up to 1000 lb capacity, and a simple linear actuator with a couple of limit switches would take care of the rest.

Just an option for ya.

I'll give that a try if what I'm attempting doesn't pan out. I'm using all the hardware from the slide out actuator on the RV that i'm recycling. I •think• it is going to work really well!

I just got finished welding the truss and the tray that will hold the generator.

It is the unit that operates the slide out from an RV that I recycled.

And thanks! I enjoy documenting the work. Kinda helps keep me going when I'm working on my own.

I was researching this exact thing yesterday. Now if I only had a bus to implement all of my great ideas...

I couldn't tell from the pic which brake pedal it was, but it certainly makes sense to stop the runaway vehicle. I know it happens. My buddy and I were coming home from a race one night, each of us hauling a trailered race car. He felt something odd and slowed down in his Suburban only to have the chit scared out of him when he saw his trailer and race car pass him in the fast lane. I was directly behind him and witnessed the whole deal. The trailer ended up going off the left side into the median and the tongue dug in and brought it to a halt, amazingly with no damage to anything. He got very lucky that night in more than one way.

OK so some fun progress to report:

The next sequence of pictures shows the assembly of the sled and frame that I made and doing a test install of everything into the bus.

Next thing will be pull everything back out, paint everything, and put it back in with heavier duty hardware. Overall I’m pretty encouraged by the way it turned out and think it’s going to work well!

I’ll have a rocker switch inside the bus that I can use to open and close the drawer.
