change rear axle ratio.. or just put in a normal truck rear end of the same weight classifcation, as they normally are geared for freeway speeds and not the 55mph pick up the kids speed.

Chevy49 does stuff like that for fun on a free afternoon. If he needs to work on the brakes he first removes the body. He's not like us.
