'92 Blue Bird - Debt Free
Bought a '92 Blue Bird for $450. 5.9 cummins, Allison transmission. 184k miles. It was abandoned by the PO, Rush Truck center here in Austin put new tires and a starter on it.
I put 2 new batteries - $227
Tow to my shop - $225
Spent the past few days cleaning it and framing. Getting ready to build some of the interior walls tonight. I'm like 99% positive the bamboo that's in it is real. It's 5/8 with no noticeable laminate markings. I was going to tear it out, but it's staying.
When I bought it:

Yes, I had it running the following morning after, we put batteries in it and the driveshaft back in. Waiting on insurance so I can start driving it. Need to get it weighed at my buddies as well.
I'm roughly $1,000 in it.
Bathroom is pretty much framed at this point.

Built my kitchen countertop/bar. Just need to cut and install the farmhouse sink, then lacquer the entire thing. It's an old bowling lane.

Reclaimed bowling lane, seriously..... I love the concept! Seems like it would be awfully heavy given the thickness, but you know it will be durable!

Well yea if you have it just laying around, you may as well. No point in spending money for counter tops when that will do just as good of a job.

Floor and counter top look awesome! What are your plans for the bus? Debt free is the name so I assume something good.

I plan on living in it permanently. Going to travel and visit old Army buddies and such. I'll probably rent it out during the big music festivals here in Austin as well. You can fetch $1500+ a weekend during them.
Have 2 walls up!

A few electrician buddies came over the other night and we knocked out most of the wiring. It's all 12/2 romex. Just not sure what I'm going to do for lights yet. I ordered some really shallow 5" LED can lights, but they're non dimming so I'm afraid they might be too much light.
They will be here tomorrow, so I can test, and if they are then I'll probably make some sconce lights out of a bunch of vintage chevy center caps I have.
Some recent pics: Also weighed it at a buddies. 21,880lbs

Nice use of election signage!
A friend just rebuilt a seawall at his folks' using a very bipartisan collection of election signage. Good stuff.
