Now, be nice! We're fortunate the coots can find their way online to share their wisdom of the ages. Formatting frell-ups are forgivable.
2: Semantics- retiring from retirement sounds like taking a dirt nap.

So,
4: Me neither, all I do know is that, "work," is one of the more vile of the four-letter words...

perhaps l should have worded it a bit differently - THIS form of retirement is too much work, and l need to retire from it? -

You're referring to bus building thing? I would agree with that. I've been thinking I should have started 20 yrs ago and I'm "only" 50.. I can't even imagine trying to do it at 80. Hat's off to you sir.

no, life in general - not uncommon for me to put in 12 hour days, mostly dealing with other people's ( dog ) problems and other people problems - taking time out to work on my bus would be giving me a break

I'm already the old cranky guy. At 80 I won't have time for anyone's drama llamas. Being a Canook, you're probably nicer than I was as a kid.

I converted my first bus at 30 years old. I spent from Dawn to dusk 7 days a week.

I had it nearly finished and went on the road in three months.

Now I am in my 50's and dealing with some challenges. I have been working actively on this bus for over a year and don't have it weathered in yet.

Age definitely has an effect on the rate of progress.

I wouldn't have been able to spend that kind of time on it at 30. Not age related, life related. Working full time. Now if I had the bus during one of the times I was laid off.... but then I wouldn't have had money for materials.

Except for waking up sore and tiring out quicker I don't have any real age related issues yet. My biggest complaint about starting late is lost opportunity. If I had started at 30, I would have had it for the past 20 yrs. Maybe a second or third bus now now but still a bus that's on the road.

This is what approximately 250 rivet holes looks like. 3 1/2 hrs yesterday. Two 32 oz Power Aids. And one sore hand. Had to call it quits with an hour of daylight left when I realized I was standing on the louvered engine intake. It would probably be a good idea to reinstall that. No harm done (yet) but decided to pack it up for the night before I did something stupid. Still on track for "finishing" the raise this weekend. In quotes because there will likely still be a handful of riveting needed but 99.9% will be done. And that is as they say close enough for government work.

I had the good fortune of being in a position to take a 3 month sabbatical to work on my first bus.

Unfortunately, now I have the time but my health has been slowing me down.

Was it you or John (???, MCI guy out in the SW) that was going to talk the Swedish Bikini team into moving in the bus? Going to need more than a little charm to pull that stunt off.

The more commas in your checking account the less charming and looks needed.

This is from Fri night. I got distracted by the easy and completely did not see the bowing directly above. Need to get that cinched down, pinned, drilled, and riveted.

I don't have any pictures but I ran out of rivets doing the driver's side on Sunday. Got most of it done. Need to work on the louver and the driver's window still.
