I appreciate you C.

20" is probably the lift height. On my lower cut between the rub rails the 6% wont matter. I'm betting i can make the front cut above the windows work.

The flares will help with the riveting or tack welding the skins on.

I'm going to spend Sunday evening sitting in it visualizing. I hope.

You can just rivet or weld without the flanges. It'll be easier.
Especially if you're going the below the window raise- which I wholeheartedly think you should!!

I can have you some made if you decide to save your money.

How long in total length do you need them?

Above the windows will work, but the lines of the bus will be totally broken up, if aesthetics are a concern. The only thing you can do is frame and skin straight up and down above the 6 degree slope. So if boxing in the front top and having a bit of an awkward transition is ok then structurally it'll be fine. Just unconventional.

Or maybe I just can't see in my mind what you're envisioning.

I definitely am here to help if you want an extra pair of hands or some steel.

So if I cut vertically through the body and window pillar, 10 in will be in the vertical body section and 10 in above the windowsill I will be 1 inch out of alignment. But then the slopes will parallel each other up to the roof staying 1-inch out. That is pretty much my only trouble area. If it was a Racecar we would use a porta power and just push that pillar out till it was connected and weld it. I know bus bodies are flexible, the question is can I push that out and weld that window pillar together.Click image for larger version

IDK about bending the ribs. Seems sketchy even for a homebrew roof raise man.
Like I said though- maybe I just can't see what you're seeing.

Lol. Havent had time to work on it for a few weeks. Anniversary weekend this weekend. Taking little blue bus to the Panhandle for a weekend away. In the next couple weeks i think i'm going to get temp support materials gathered, cut it and lift it, then figure out my transition trouble area out and see what permanent materials i'm going to need.

Well....we sold it. After months of agonizing about wanted to set it up, weeks of afterhours work, debating its size, etc. we decided that we'll just keep our little blue bus.

Good news is we'll use the money we made from selling the bus to upgrade little blue, some house batteries, maybe some solar, maybe some engine upgrades.

Never did get around to raising the roof period found a metal shop in town that would have been happy to bend all the metal we need. Even found other people that had done Thomas buses without issue. In about eight years will have to start building our retirement bus. That will have to have a roof raise for sure.

IF its an IC/AmTran I should have some rib extensions. Gonna get a hundred of em made before my step dad retires from the fab shop.
