Crawler hauler International 3800

I’m in the process of converting my 92 international 3800 school bus into a toy hauler. I’m starting to look over the engine and there’s some things I would like to fix and delete. This school bus has a DTA-360 engine and a Allison AT-545. The previous owner disconnected the heater core lines and closed the gate valves. I want to completely delete this heater core lines and gate valves all together. Can anyone tell me how to property do this on a DTA-360 engine?

Best way is to follow both lines back to the engine... disconnect them and run a single hose between the 2 ports. Otherwise, you can remove the hose barbs and plug them.

There isn't a proper way to do what you're after.

The proper way to eliminate the rear heater(s) is to either plug or loop it at the driver's front floor heater, leaving the defrost and floor heater up front still intact. For a road going vehicle you still need heat/defrost to be functional, and if you eliminate all the heaters in the bus it will no longer be so.

What you exactly do depends on the body manufacturer. Some ran the heaters in a parallel fashion, others in series. Series will need a loop, parallel won't.

Removing the pipes and gate valves on the engine and replacing with plugs is eliminating the cabin heat system all together, which isn't recommended by most.

Thanks for your reply! My goal is to get rid of all the heaters. The rears are already out and the front one is a nightmare. Cut wires and fuses are gone. I will get a good aftermarket front heater when the time comes. For the time being I want to get rid of everything.

Most important function of the front heater is the defrost feature. Make sure what ever you come up with includes that.
