Hi guys we finished up painting ,photos coming soon and now we're working on wiring so that way we're ready for spray foam. I didn't know though is it okay to put the wiring runs in and spray foam directly over them or does the wiring have to be in conduit so that way the spray foam doesn't heat it up? I know the spray foam gets hot when it cures I don't know if it gets hot enough to affect the wire through

Most wire is rated for either 95c or 105c. If your foam gets that hot, you have much bigger issues.

The Desert Sands Update. . .

Hi all! Been a while since we've posted here. This is Maggie, Mikerob643's partner in all the fun skoolie stuff! We have done a bit since last post. With a cold and wet winter here in Flagstaff, and the fact that we are building this in our driveway, much has been delayed. Still easily making the timeline for our goal finish date though.

After painting the bus, we bought our solar, went with a 325 watt panel, a buddy of ours works at the local solar company and helped us hook it all up for some pizza and beer!

Mike welded a roof deck large enough for us to sleep on top, relax, and strap gear if need be. He also made and we attached a ladder on the side that doubles as a gymnastics training tool.

We used the foam it green spray foam insulation, cut it back evenly, placed walls up and painted them white.
We installed a tongue and groove style roof - still needs some finishing touches.

I made some faux stained glass with frames in the back of the bus for some extra style. I painted the front dash white as well.

We phoned a friend who is a carpenter and will be making the cabinetry and assisting us in installing it. Our kitchen counter top will be made from local Poderosa Pine that another friend planed.

We have officially ordered our Dometic CFX 65W 12v fridge, a sink and marine stove! Awaiting their arrival at this time.

Our wood stove arrived all the way from Norway! It is called the Gstove. A small, skinny but long stove with bilateral racks for drying socks and whatnot. Also has an additional 5L water storage that will heat with use and has a spout for use with tea, coffee, or cooking. It easily packs up and can be stored for use later. Extremely lightweight and efficient. Norwegians use it for camping in the cold!

Pictures coming next... .

Sleddgracer-
Honestly, there are somethings we probably did out of order or were rushed, but we just keep moving along! Neither of us are experienced much with carpentry, but it is working out pretty good so far!

Big updates! We found some gal selling old gymnasium flooring which was what I (Maggie) really wanted. We covered the main area with it, Mikey added the metal framing for the bed and made a sliding door for the bathroom while I was out of the country...

Now I’m working on the front steps. Any suggestions? There were some holes, so the bare metal won’t work.. I was thinking maybe a thin layer of plywood? But I would rather it be more water proof — it’s a cool idea to have the entrance almost be like a mud room with shoe storage, so I also thought maybe industrial like rubber with the holes that could be taken out to clean as needed,. But I don’t know what the base layer should be. What have y’all done?

Yes we do!! We got a seat from an actual mobile home so it’s more rated than a van seat. We built a very strong box, it’s just next to the front stairs. Then we got the a swivel, so the chair can turn toward the living room for visitors! I’ll attach a picture, there is a trash bag covering it right now just so dust doesn’t get on it. The box has added storage underneath

I should go ahead and start a thread For now, I have been documenting my build at the Appropedia website, they have all sorts of DIY projects for appropriate technology. I had a college class with the developer of the site and am currently working as a green building consultant. Trying to do the build as eco-friendly as I can...for getting 10 mpg...lol

https://www.appropedia.org/Short_Sch...%22_Conversion

Hoping to see more of your project soon and I'll find a way to let you know of my new thread once I have it.
