The real problem is going to be the head clearance from the floor to the top of the door. However, if there is a stair well there, it is easy. I suspect there is no stairwell. So my suggestion would be to add a stairwell down to the bottom of the skirt.

I think my husband wants to add one step down to the skirt based off of what you said, and then make some fold out steps to the ground for that back emergency door. Eventually we want to put double doors in the very back and a deck. We would make that our front door for use when we are more permanently stationed.

double glass doors opening on to a rear deck sounds like a very pleasant idea
