Good feeling not having legal issues to worry about. Now go somewhere.

That's no joke. I was getting a bit concerned considering all the stories of insurance companies dropping people.

Anyways, we've got some short trips planned coming up. Might get some little stuff inside buttoned up before then such as flooring and paint. We'll see.

We're rolling out early Saturday to get new shoes for the big girl. It's one of the last steps until we take our first trip.

I'm putting together a video of the process to getting legal as well as insurance requirements and such. I'll post that when I'm done.

More to come!

Looking forward to it.

Spending the evenings after work buttoning up little things until Saturday gets here. Worked last night on finishing the wiring on the tail for the reverse lights/spot lights.

Since there was already a good length of extra wire that was no longer in use for the rear, I went on and ran a few extra leads to the tail in case we want to hook up any extras back there in the future. The spot lights and reverse lights on the bumper will be wired to a rocker switch on the dash. I'll also be adding 2 more of the little light pods (had a few laying around) up on the deck for work lights.

I've got the extra leads bundled up and tied up in the frame rail. Who knows what we'll use them for... maybe some whip lights or something fun down the road. We'll see.

Took off tomorrow as I have an HVAC crew coming to the house to do some warranty work so while they are busy, I'm going to try and get the parking brake working on the bus. The shoes seem to be in good shape as did the drum... I think they just ran out of adjustment on the handle. I think there is some adjustment left on the linkage under the bus but we'll see.

Rolling out at 7am Saturday to hopefully be the first in line at the tire shop (they don't take appointments on Saturdays).

Anyways.. more to come soon.

Updates...

So I decided to take the bus for a short drive friday afternoon before driving to another town come saturday morning and I'm glad I did. Left rear caliper was sticking pretty bad. 5 miles and the brakes on that corner were HOT. Slid under the bus with a 4lb hammer and beat the snot out of the caliper and caliper mount which knocked loose the rust that was holding it. Hit the slide points with penetrating oil and tapped on all 4 calipers just to make sure none of the others were sticky. Everything appeared to be moving freely (including the left rear after it's massage.) Continued the drive without issue.

Got it back home and checked everything over. All looked good.. no leaks, no excess heat... temp stayed at 180.. driving oil pressure was over 50psi.. idle was 20. Shifted good. I drug out the pneumatic grease gun and greased everything that moves front to back. Doing this, I found that the passenger side tie rod end is a little loose (no side to side movement, but vertical movement when I pumped it full of grease). I'll order one this week and get it changed. May just replace both.

Come Saturday morning, I drove it into town for tires. I stopped about 10 miles into the trip to check brake temperature and everything was great. Made it to the tire shop without issue.

I checked the rotors and pads over while the tires were off and everything looks good. Lots of life left in the rotors and the pads look new (which coincides with what the pastor of the church we bought it from told me).

Also got gauges mounted. Not wired in yet... but will be soon.

Then I got started on the kids' seat installation. This is something I've been putting off but it actually went really smooth and worked out really nice.

Built a seat riser out of 2x2x1/4 and bolted it to the factory chair rail and will be anchoring it to the floor just like the factory seats were (yet a bit stronger). Mounted the Jeep seat using the oem Jeep hardware. Have seat belts on order which should be here tomorrow. It left us plenty of room to move through the bus. I was worried about how snug it would be but it worked out really well.

More to come soon!

More progress.

Lower bunk complete. Got the inner wall buttoned up, cut the front panel for under storage, and the mattress supports in place.

Got the wiring somewhat buttoned up in the upper bunk. Need to make a cover for it yet.

And a note... if you are losing motivation because of a laundry list of little things to do... make yourself a check list so it is easier to focus on each item instead of everything you need to do. I'm trying to check an item off the list every day. Progress is being made slowly but surely.

More to come soon!

Until it was mounted, I coudln't tell it was a ladder, great for short kids. Without a roof raise, there's just enough room for bunks. Looks good. Still need to convert one of mine to a pullout that covers the whole width by using one of the upper bunk mattresses.

Man, those tires look good enough to eat. Three years ago, I never could have conceived of looking at a pic of a tire and having this kind of reaction.

Lol.. thanks guys!

The tire shop was hungry too apparently... took a nice chunk out of my wallet. Oh well... shouldn't have to worry about them for a good while.

I did finally get around to putting the video of that trip together. First real drive in nearly 2 years.

Southern Indiana. Not much but farm land and towns around here but mountains are just a few hours away.

Put your location in your profile in the UserCP, it'll help answer your concerns.

I can't change anything in the profile for some reason. It freaks out and logs me out every time I try to make a change. I quit worrying about it.
