Re: Gillig to Alaska

Ok....I always had a joke about going to Alaska in a school bus. So in feb of 2007 My dear wife and I decided to do it.
We looked at lots of busses. I was picky. I wanted a bus with a manual trans, air brakes and a DT466 engine.
However after driving a couple pushers we knew that was the way to go. Lots quieter.
So we finally discovered the Gillig close to what I originally wanted and rear engine.
In march of 2007 my son and I traveled to Fresno CA and picked up our bus from Pat Young, a good guy would do business with him again.
Drove it home and went to work!
We left for Alaska july 3 2007.
My wife, our daughter 22, our son 18 ,our daugher 15, and son 8.
We where gone a little over six weeks, Drove 9890 miles and had no major problems. Praise the Lord!!!
More pictures as I get around to it at the skoolie gallery.
