Re: La Tortuga...updated 06-29-13
no not yet, as long as I can get a few extra amps It'll be fine(I have several other panels for final install so If I can keep fridge going and 2 small fans and still start bus after 4 hrs i's golden)heck I am bringing an extra battery so it doesn't matter
so my story this morning
so shortly after I posted about having a snack; I heard a loud, sharp "SNAP" and then what sounded like loud rice crispies!!!!!!
I snapped this pic
The cord thru window wasnt tight, and the window has been "cocked" like that for over a year when parked
it continued to snap and crackle for over a 1/2 hour!
It was about 90* yesterday and as the sun went down the ac's coled bus off decent?hell dunno what happened
except know I am behind!
I got up and hit it early, first thing was to undo all the wiring to access window removal
I then pulled out window,
I layed window down on a pc of thin aluminum so I can just "pour" it into a box for trash
remove this screw and 1 on other side to remove top rail
pull window out
remove this and 1 other screw from the "window" frame
It's Sunday morning, nothing is open...thundr storms in 4/5 hours......I grabbed a pc of 1/4 plex-glass and cut it to fit using 4-1/2 grinder and .045 cutoff wheel(be careful molten plastic is as hot as Lava and stick as it cools!!)
clean up frame, silicone, and remove protective wrap and reassemble
then silicone window frame and stick it it
Now to make up a 40 foot tester and trace a crap ton of wires....then I get to do what I had planned today

Re: La Tortuga...updated 06-29-13
so here she is bare
the neutrals and grounds where easy
next needed to know which hot went were so I could "load" the 50 amp side
I salvaged the rear door buzzer
,a fuse, couple alligator clips and a "power source, 12 transformer"
I made a quick circuit checker, hot goes thru fuse to wire at plug (i used an old plug with pig tail just to plug into sockets)
then when you touch the (-) of the power source it will buzz alarm....easy peezee
done !!!!!
it's wired so if I have 50 amp I have 2 sockets on a seperate "leg" front ac or heater"
I "roughed in" another panel and it will be stored away in the bus...just incase...still very weird
I also decided to do this:
just incase....dunno...just incase

Great idea to mark or document your wiring. I did my wiring and about a month later I'd forgotten what went where. My wiring diagram saved me a lot of tracing.

Re: La Tortuga...updated 06-29-13
4th of july picnic.....90% chance of rain and thunder storms......bring the "metal tent"....
the drive to the dam, over the weir bridge up backside of the dam
the dam
crossing the dam
power plant side
lake side almost 200' deep here
picnic spot
it was off and on pouring rain so we cooked inside
temperary exhaust fan setup I made at 8:30 night before, knowing that it would be raining it actually worked good
I couldn't get a good dam shot....5-0 didn't like the idea of a bus parked on the dam on 4th of july...
I even invited him in to look and see that we were just proud Americans on our Independance day

Re: La Tortuga...updated 07-26-13
Actually had time to do passenger side
I also worked on a kinda weird to some folks project....after they see it it's like "cool"
so here are some more "plates" I sheared a bunch of 6 X 12 inches and .020 thick aluminum, gave them a quick da sand to roughen up...and then paint...as weird as I can find cheap
And then I told the family give me 10 quotes from famous history people and we will apply to the ceiling of the bus...these are a few of mine...apparently not everyone knows "cool" old folks
Alot more to be done....these bend very easy to match ceiling contour....I'm thinking 2 sided tape and 4 1/8 rivets
I know it's bling bling...I did jack up front of bus to start measuring parts to find out whats wrong

Wow, I missed the window fiasco. Strange! Nice repair, though. I really like all your stenciling. Very cool. Its one of the things that will make yours unique.

Re: La Tortuga...updated 08-03-13
a lot better that's why all I did was paint electrical boxes and cut the wood for Lisa's side (notice the pcs "holding" the shelf up? that is actually EMT tubing covering the 1/4-20 all thread that threads into Pem Nuts in ceiling...the same ones that put me down last weekend)
thanks for asking...hoping to be 100% this weekend

Re: La Tortuga...updated 08-03-13
That is a nice way to cover all thread, I may have to steal that idea.
I saw on one of the RV conversion show on the travel channel where they ran all the plumming and electrical out side the walls. Using conduit and stainless steel. It looked clean and nice. The shower was all stainless steel.
