Sir, yes Sir

Show is an ongoing display at local fairgrounds and select Glamping Spots...check the internetzzz for dates and times....

It is supposed to rain all week, and I ran out of Wire at 4pm or so

I know buy more than one small spool....I did and used them both this weekend

I tried larger spools my wire feed was not happy and I returned it

I have a wedding to attend this weekend, so we will see what is next...I really want to weld some steps up

Man, your rocking.

That's far out man. Loving it.

Are you using expanded metal for the treads?

Thanks ya'll

Nat, no idea on treads yet...I might do mesh, it would hurt to get a toe stuck in it tho'...was thinking maybe wood, that could get slick though, then thought textered abs sheet scraps...we shall see, I need to add "triangulation" for stiffness, so mesh is looking real good for that.....talk about a bunch of spot/hammer welding

BC, thank you, wait until it's done....it will be a fun Piece of magical/mythical art....got plenty of fun ideas

It should draw attention going down the road!

Def. Need to make the lighting legal....

Just showed Clint the pictures of your stairs and he asked if you were renaming the bus to "the Stairway to heaven".

I couldn't tell him exactly why you built this...maybe you could let us in on what is the purpose of these stairs.....and, Clint wanted to know "if these stairs could be construed as unsafe and not fit for travel?"

BTW....great job!

She will always be named LA Tortuga ;)

As for the purpose? I needed a way to get to the roof, and I have never seen a spiral staircase on a bus so I decided...staircase it shall be, also I am scared crap less of heights and this doesn't involve climbing onto roof

Who would "decide" if they were I unsafe?

I can guarantee that there is no law on the books that references spiral staircases mounted on the back of a converted school bus....I feel confident in that

Only none "safe" item that I will address has to do with new rear lighting, I have about 6 ft extending out past the taillights, so new lights will be added

Now there is a possiblity it may distract other drivers, like texting, eating and reading books while driving.....what issues does he see?

I really like the direction you are going with this. Things are really looking up... Years ago, when I used to watch Nascar, and went to some races, a friend of mine took the aluminium deck off of a pontoon boat, and put it up on top of his class A rv. It made for a great deck and good views. He made the railings so they would pull off and lay down when traveling. Really worked out well and looked good too. Good times...

Does it (the stairs) really need a purpose other than you want to build it? Other than getting you to the top of the bus, I can see you and the wife with wine, moonlit night, at the top of the stairs just saying to each other...this is the good life Carry On with full speed!!!

How'za'bout some of that new, poly deck material. Won't ever rot and looks pretty much like real varieties of wood & bamboo these days. And it is now avail in wide plank sizes of about 8-1/4".

Just a thought.

IMO

It's too heavy and slippery.

I vote expanded metal.

Rain, snow, ect will not affect traction with expanded metal.

Bansil....I didn't even ask him to expand on his statement, simply because, he's the type that thinks "if it hasn't been done before, there's gotta be a good reason for it".

He's not one to try different things....which is kind of fun for me, cause I'm always coming up with strange ways of doing things and I constantly get the "eye rolling look", which makes me have to ask him to explain "why won't that work?"

I feel that I always win..but at times, I just nod and say "oh, I didn't think of that". But, of course, I still think that my idea should be doable.

Go ahead & laugh but we've survived being together for 15 years thinking like that. I think it has improved my cunning immensely.

I had him tear down an antique wardrobe to use as walls in the bus. He hesitated, until I walked by him one day with a big hammer...then he broke it down for me, we installed them and I painted them and he had to admit that they look great and were a perfect fit for where I wanted them..
