Little windows ...
Has anyone swapped out all of their windows but kept the original positions? I don't like the RV windows much and I don't like the dark cave. Having OEM windows behind a cabinet doesn't make any sense either. So, I searched for little windows and found this.

Are there any conversions with these up high above a cabinet build? Can these be bought at a reasonable price? Replacing a 14 row bus would be pricey even at $50 a window. Do any other buses come with these? I would imagine seats are a dime a dozen; hopefully there are thousands of these that people hate.

As pictured, they're common on prisoner transport buses.

But are they commonly available? I could use 28 of them or so.
28 windows that is. I only need half a dozen buses.

YOu can find small, non-opening windows on ebay. IDK about the tiny prison windows but you could find something suitable I'd imagine.

Any clue if PictureLOVE is still active on this site? The govie computer is hating on her website. I sent a PM.
Anywho, I don't know the dimensions of those windows but they look about perfect. 8~10" would be nice. Instead of (or in addition to) LED lights around the top of the cabinets, WINDOWS!!!
Transcendence added a mini van window to his transition; steal his idea and use a Jetta wagon moon-roof. I haven't measured mine but those things are ginormous. And are motorized with a shade to boot!!

Are you going to heat/AC all of the time? Those windows don't open. What don't you like about RV windows?

I want to heat/AC as little as possible (without turn the bus into a 2 foot thick styrofoam block.
Yeah, I know those don't open. I would have to keep some of the full size windows. Kitchen, maybe bathroom and frost it, etc. Do them in pairs and work with the floor plan so they are opposite each other. Nice cross ventilation or open the first and last for a wind tunnel.
It's not the look of the RV windows so much as the 5 million sq feet of sheet metal with 3 random sized windows stuck in the side of a bus.

why not just skin the windows you want to take out.. im not sure how many cabinets you have planned for your build.. but ive seen a few that kept the nice big opening skoolie windows and just removed / skinned one here or there as needed for cabinetry.. I dont think that looks bad at all when its done with the same style metal as the bus already has..

I'm not sure how many cabinets I want either. Be sure you let me know when I have it figured out.
With the little prison windows I could keep them all. Put in 2 or 3 regular windows in the common area, couple in the bedroom maybe. The prison bus has 1 normal and doesn't look terribly goofy with the little ones as well. Getting the right mix and location would be the tricky part. I'd want a repeating pattern and symmetrical side to side.

Are those little windows not just like the ones they use on truck's passenger side?

Here's one with a trim ring...
It just seems like most any auto glass shop could get you everything you need to make them the size you want, and the rubber seals too.

The problem with that is you can get whatever you want if you're willing to pay for it. If there are 64 windows to a bus and 57 million buses sold for scrap every year, it's going to be cheaper than a window out of 1,000 high end semi trucks.
