Luggage racks

I THINK I might be looking for a section or 2 of the above seat luggage racks from a Blue Bird. Has anyone got any that they took out?

Re: Luggage racks

it might be easier to get the luggage rack from a transit. should be the same, and there are lots of those in the wrecking yards.

Re: Luggage racks

I was looking for a OEM bolt in. This had them in it at one time. There are no wrecking yards here within 100's of miles. Someone here had them a while ago, I forget who though. :/

Re: Luggage racks

Is this what you are looking for?

I still have most of it, although I did cut it in a few places to get it out. Not sure how you would get it though.
From a 91 Bluebird All American RE
Free if you want them. I have used a few bits and pieces for other things.

Re: Luggage racks

Thats it. How long is a section and could you use just one section and have it hang structurally sound? In other words, is there a hangar at each section end? She is wanting a shelf over a table are and I was thinking that would be the best way to do it. Not sure SHE is thinking that, but............

Re: Luggage racks

Here's a better picture of the details. This is the end, note the upright bracket between each window, has a screw top and bottom into rib. The rack bottom is aluminum tube that goes through the inner brackets and just into the ends. I haven't tried, but assume that brackets will slide off of the tubes. Spacing is whatever the window (or rib) spacing is mine are 28 or 32, not all windows are the same size, nor are the ribs spaced evenly. Padded part is just some cheap particle board covered with foam and vinyl, I wouldn't think you would need that, I assume your interior is something other than school bus brown.

Re: Luggage racks

I have the brackets on the windows already. I have the holes in the ceiling as well. How long is a section? Just thinking, but if I got a couple sections, I could always cut ends off and weld them together. As far as me getting them, I would surely pay shipping if I do this. You could tape a couple together and stick a label on it, no box necessary.

Still thinking out loud here......

Re: Luggage racks

From what I can tell the aluminum tubing is full length, I cut it into more manageable lengths, I'll have to see if it can be knocked apart. So, you would need a pair of ends, and however many middle sections, plus aluminum tubes to adequately. cover the length?. I don't think the box would have to be very big, not sure about shipping without a box. I'll have to check on getting them to pick up here, round trip to them would be about 70 miles.

Re: Luggage racks

UPS or FedEx doesnt pick up at your home? Maybe its a living in the middle of nowhere thing here. I just call them and they come here. Dont do anything yet, still checking things. I need to go measure widths and lengths as well.

I'll call pony express tomorrow and get details about boxing and prices. I think brown trucks are cheaper.

Re: Luggage racks

I feel I owe you more than I paid you just because of the tape you used! You get an A+ in packing.
I looked high and low for some rod like that, nothing within 120 miles. I think I am going to drill the holes out to the next size and use conduit. Actually, copper fits but the price is pretty rude.

Re: Luggage racks

Glad they showed up OK. You might try driving a drift of the appropriate size through to enlarge the holes. Also I wonder if a wooden dowel
might be as strong as the aluminum tube?

Re: Luggage racks

I used a drift, that helped. I cant seem to find anything 5/8 OD, its all ID. Except for the copper and possible the dowel. Couldnt find 5' dowel though. I'll find something............

Looking for cool luggage rack

I am looking for 10 feet of this style rack for my bus. Retrio, even just the brackets.

It would be a open shelf, and a handhold when walking down the bus.

I've looked at esty, instagram, amazon, ebay, no luck.

Anyone have a construction idea, or 10 feet of interesting luggage rack for a bus or train?
