Metal to fiberglass

Recently bought a 2002 safety-liner. It was partially converted. But after staying in it a few nights realized it gets uncomfortably hot inside. I've decided I'll be reframing the bus with and replacing some of the metal shell with wood and fiberglass. Has anyone attempted this?

My idea is to use 1x2 to frame and use at least 3 layers of fiberglass for structural support. With 2" Styrofoam sheets in-between frame.

When you say "replacing the metal shell", do you mean removing the ribs, ceiling and roof panels altogether and replacing it with a frame built of 1x2s and fiberglass on the outside? If so, you're basically talking about a DIY RV. The insulation will be good, but the safety aspect of a school bus will be completely gone.

The skin material should not be changed for thermal properties alone.

Adding more and better ventilation is a key factor for cooling.

Then sealing and insulating inside the skin if aircon will be deployed, assuming powered campsites.
