For a proper repair, you do not want to apply this to anything that is thicker than about a 1/4”. That does not mean it can’t be done, but the repair will not last as long. Eventually, it will shrink and crack or fall off. The general rule of thumb is that if the dent is deeper than 1/8”, you need to do some metal or fiberglass work first.

I guess I may be OK. Most of my bondo work has been covering the holes left by the extendable stop signs and the antennas, either 1/4" holes or 1" holes with a bit of metal mesh over them. The patches at their thickest are about 1/8" (just thick enough to cover the mesh).

4 months in on Thursday
Ok I’m four months in here are some before and after pictures of my build. I still have a ways to go my deadline is October 1st. I just ordered new rims should have new tires by the weekend. Motor work is all done except for a leaky power stearing cap still have to service the trans and rear end

alot of work thats looking good but that is not an 80s front end for that bus.
trying to pull off the same style after motor upgrade on my 86?
like the look of yours but that is not an 1980 design hood and fender design regardless of brand.
what weight value are you and whats under the hood?
sorry just read your profile thanks for filling it in.
?a chevy 350 in a 60 passenger bus?
i can build the older stuff all day long at about 6 mpg in a truck or car but moving a 60 passenger bus you can expect 1-2 mpg if you run the back roads .
not trying to scare you .
l love the look of the bus but a 350 chevy in a 60 passenger bus isnt going to last unless it was built right and even if it was it is not going to last long enough.
do you know the re-built motors internals like cam, cranks, heads stuff?
hope its good for you

might have to switch my ford to that but i still dont believe a chevy 350 is moving that without extensive motor work?
maybe a 396 or 454?
if it is and without everything done to the engine to make that happen you wont find a replacement

366 or 427 tall decks were the most common in the 80s bit depending on his weight class.. ( if that’s a C50) the 350 could still be had. From a torque and longevity perspective it wouldn’t be my first choice on a bus but parts and crate motors are everywhere for those.
If the 350 dies you replace it with a crate motor and stuff an RV cam in it and it would have good bottom end and still be able to rev to 3500 or so. ( the Allison won’t like you if you rev more than 3500-4000)

New tires
Got some new rims and tires put on today. Got rid of the split rims and put some 22,5x7,5 My old tires were dry rotted pretty bad. It rides so much better. Time to test them out and do a road trip I did save two for a spare if anybody needs one I’d part with it they are in good shape compared to the one in the picture

I've always said wheels make the ride. You can have a POS with a nice set of wheels and it looks nice. Or you could have a $150K exotic with crap wheels and it makes the whole ride look like crap.
