Hi all- looks like a very cool forum you've got here
(I just changed the subject and added "My Bus"- it doesn't have a name yet- vehicles kinda have to name themselves yanno?)
I just picked up a bus after wanting to get a little more freedom in my lifestyle.
I'm doing it a little differently that most of you it seems-
I have a lot of "stuff"- like tools and car parts and snowboards and synthesizers and camping equipment etc etc etc-
So- My original thought was to get a 60' articulated bus and use the front section as living quarters and the back section for storage/workshop. I found out that this doesn't really work in CA because of the RV length restrictions and they'd be no good off road and a bitch to park, so I decided to look for a normal bus and then tow a cargo trailer. I happened upon a sweet deal on a semi-shorty that's barely big enough for me to live in, easily able to pull a 30ft trailer, and should be about as capable off-road as a 2WD bus can get
I don't think I'm going to be doing too many modifications to the bus or building much permanently in to it. Owning a house for the past 10 years, I've learned to very much value modularity and the ability to replace components. I'll likely just have a futon, a couple subwoofers, a flat-screen tv, some equipment racks, plants, and a cooking area/bar in the front area. All just kinda sitting there chained down instead of bolted in- with a non-mortared slate floor. I'll put a couple 55gal drums high up an a rack for a gravity-feed shower/washer that can be mildly heated by a peltier-style powered cooler. In the winter I'll cook with a wood stove- in the summer with a hotplate.
Anyway- most of these are just ideas at this point of course, but here's a pic!
