New Member, 1959 Chevy Shorty
Hi Everybody,
I'm a new member, but have been following this site for a year or so. If someone lets me know how to insert pictures into the forum I will include some in the future.
Here's the rundown;
1959 Chevrolet Shorty with a Bluebird body. Never had flashers so the body is pretty clean the usual dirt and rust. Older conversion with large propane tank, stove and fridge. Cabinets and fridge were trashed. No motor or tranny but did have a two speed rear end. Fully welded tilt front end. Price to remove from neighbors property...free!!!
What I've done so far;
Replace the front axle with one from a GMC Topkick (better brakes, two wheel cylinders per side), fabricated new motor mounts, installed a fresh Buick 455 big block with Stage 1 heads (these engines are torque monsters) and a built TH400 transmission, installing hydroboost brake system, added a 50 gallon fuel tank and put on a 7 foot by 9 foot roof rack.
Once I get all of the mechanicals in order, I'll start on wiring and cosmetics. Does anybody have a line on frame mounted cargo boxes? I look forward to hearing from all of you!
