And that's my point. Most get carried away securing the rather large, heavy obvious stuff that they forget about the small stuff. In this case, you need to sweat the small stuff.... like the burner covers on the stove. Mine are cast iron and just sit on top of the range. I have to store them while traveling.

My biggest concern is to remember to put away the antique kerosene lamps that we will be using for light.

I have a similar concern. I have an Aladdin lamp that I got years ago(1982). I have figured out how to secure the lamp base (it's aluminum and the bowl unscrews from the 2 pc foot so it can be shortened and I can use a bracket attached to the wall to secure) but my problem is the heavy glass shade that goes with the lamp. I'm thinking of sealing the shade to the metal ring it sits on with a clear adhesive caulk. I will not be using the lamp for light but it's one of the few things that survived a house fire and I have been dragging it around with me thru several houses.

"INDUSTRIAL" Velcro!
Seriously, The bay with all the Velcro and those Command strips are in one of the departments that I cover at work. It's amazing all the Velco products we cover. After looking at them (counting & stocking) I'm pretty sure we will use one of the strap ones to "tie back" at least two of the accordian doors in the bus... when I get them bought.

Re: Our Bus, Our Home
So we've been working a bit and haven't posted in a while but this one will have to be short and sweet with a more detailed and documented post to follow. Since our last post we've finished the woodstove hearth, finished covering wall insulation/electrical, installed 6 gallon hot water heater and city water hookup/gravity fill, framed in queen bed and shower, added some interior walls, hung the awning, and installed (2) 46 gallon water tanks under the bed for 92 total gallons of freshwater. Here's a quick pic, more to follow.

Re: Our Bus, Our Home
So here's a few more pics of the hearth, we're happy to be finished with it, it was a lot of work. We plan to leave the tape on the wood till we're in the finish phase.

Re: Our Bus, Our Home
After buying a 32x32 shower pan from home depot, we ordered two of these tanks on ebay, 86.99 a piece with free shipping for a total of 92 gallons:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/200908799372?ss ... 1439.l2649
Here's the shower pan sitting in place and the gravity fill and vent hose in the wall (only way we could figure to do it, that shower sticks out enough as it is).

Re: Our Bus, Our Home
The pantry will be 31 inches deep with two stationary shelves for structure/support and the rest will be on drawer glides. 3/4 maple/birch plywood.

Wow. You do excellent work. How did you get such a nice fit of the pantry walls against the ceiling?

Re: Our Bus, Our Home
Only thing I see is maybe an issue with the blue tape on the wood...that stuff can be a bear to remove after a week or two FYI

Thank you we started with cardboard trial and error, that was a joke. next we used the front over the mirror/visor sheet metal as a template and used a large piece of tracing paper to get our basic shape. we transferred that to a piece of 1/8 paneling scrap we found (Jason's dad's property is a treasure trove of miscellaneous stuff that is often times just what we need)...next we transferred that smaller scrap to a larger half sheet. We originally planned to use this to skin a section of framing but decided to use at least 3/8 maybe 1/2 inch so we can still safely attach things to the walls. This "skin" became our template: we placed it against the shower framing and made notes/drew marks on it, then laid it on the 3/4 inch and transferred our marks....so the first 3/4 inch wall was the third attempt at finding our curve and the 2 pantry walls are the 4th and 5th.
