Yesterday I drove the sport bus up to home Depot and traded them a big stack of money for a big stack of XPS and plywood. Who needs a truck?

Also I think I found the perfect toad.

Well that's something you don't see every day. You think that has the 327 shoehorned into it?

If it did you would need that bike in the back all the time to keep the back wheels on the ground!

Great job with the insulation - it looks fantastic! Did you get DIY kits, or have a contractor spray? If DIY, any words of wisdom for us grasshoppers?? Was thinking about using closed cell board then overspraying with a DIY kit to fill gaps, etc.

We paid to have the foam sprayed. They charge by the square foot at 1 inch depth, I asked for 2 inch and more or less got it in most places. I'll do a bit of filling with great stuff but overall it's really great. Not cheap! But it actually came out cheaper than doing it myself with the kit you can get at Home Depot. We did the ceiling and walls below the windows including the pocket behind the chair rails, the back wall, and the front cap.

Not everyone will take the job and I got a pretty wide range of prices... so call around!

Started laying subfloor got to the front wheel arches! It is going pretty well for someone with no woodworking skills! Doing my cuts inside the bus with a jigsaw powered from my inverter.

Also, today I got my super high fashion summer outfit!

I'm down about 40 pounds since the first time we met. Soylent replaced most of my meals, although when I'm working my ass off with bus building I am eating one or two meals or day in addition to it.

Ok I have continued to work my tail off and I'm happy to say my floor is done!

I debated running the planks sideways vs front to back and decided on sideways to cross the plywood seams rather than run with them. Plus, with an 8 stage stagger system I had virtually no waste and no stair step pattern! I used a pair of tin snips to cut the planks quick worked pretty well except for my hand is all blistered up now...

Then I built a platform over a wheel arch. It came out pretty well and is really strong, and I insulated inside it with 1 inch XPS. I haven't decided how to use the space yet but building the covers over them now helps me frame out my usable space.

It's been crazy hot and humid so I have been running my air conditioners while I work, I discovered the hard way that one of the condensation drain hose was clogged... Fortunately my new floor is waterproof!

im new here. reading through everything.
the first thing i have noticed in these builds is the lack, at least to me, of insulation.
are you planning on living in this bus in a cold climate?
if yes, is there a reason why we would never put that little insulation in a house, but we put it in a bus?
or does everyone just avoid cold climates?
like 19F and below.

At this point I have spent more on insulation that I spent on the bus, so I don't understand the question.

We just ordered our new mattress, I'm on my way back from the hardware store with materials to build the bed frame. Jumping ahead a bit on that step to try to make a more comfortable space for the woman to heal. I am still deciding what to use for the ceiling and it isn't stopped raining long enough to get the saw out in over a week!

yes,i know the bus is insulated.
the question is, is that enough insulation to keep you warm below 19F, or is this a 3 season bus and you will be avoiding places that are below 19F.

My plan is to avoid extreme temperatures as much as possible. We had that plan last year too you can't argue with the weather when it doesn't do what you want! We basically followed the record high temperatures all the way across the country, and on the way back hit single digits. THe intention is that the insulation we have added make those situations less of a problem.

With that said, I'd be surprised if you found another skoolie with much more insulation than this! So we'll see. I've got great air conditioners (engine driven) and I figure we'll get a wood stove when the weather turns... And do our best to not need them.
