p.f.a.b

I have been slowly working on my 1951 Chevrolet bus (Post Family Adventure Bus) for the last few years and thought I would share my progress now that I have been driving it. I put the body on a newer chassis, and installed a Chevrolet tbi 454 and 4L80e automatic transmission from a damaged motorhome I purchased for parts. Last week we drove it to a car show and around town about 75 miles without too many issues. This morning my kids and I started striping all the glass and dash parts, preparing it to be dropped off for sand blasting in the morning tomorrow.

Neato... Me likey... Just add doobies and serve at ambient temperature...

"We can drive it home... with one headlight..."

As an aside, I have a background in transportation, as most know. A friend and I were discussing the idea of putting together a shuttle bus for the barhopping crowd. Keep in mind, my friend has a bit of an off-beat, dry humor about him...

Anyway, he came up with this idea of finding an older curved-back bus like this, painting a huge butt on the rear slope, fading it out into a night sky motif, and calling it "MOON-lighting transportation"... Naturally, I asked him what size he wore for a straitjacket... The visual is sort of funny, but REALLY?

"They're coming to take me AWAY, ha-ha...
They're coming to take me AWAY, ha-ha, ho-ho, hee-hee,
To the funny farm, where life is beautiful all the time...
And I'll be happy to see those nice young men in their clean white coats,
And they're coming to take me AWAY, HA-HA!"

Welcome from So Ca. Glad to see another Superior Skoolie. There are several of us who have been chatting it up on Torks thread as you may have seen.

your bus looks pretty impressive I'm still trying to decide how to lay mine out, I need to be able to sleep 4 in it so I'm thinking about a dinette that turns into a bunk bed. Do you have a thread for your build. I like the pop out on the side and I'm still truing to figure out a good way to improve the entry door.

Best I can do is this: https://www.skoolie.net/forums/f11/h...ory-31871.html.

My ideas on improving the entry door begin on page 6 of the link offered in the above.

If you do go to the build link pack a lunch--there are 52 pages to navigate!

Picked up my bus from the sandblaster today, I'm pretty excited there was a lot less rust than I expected

Looks great! What did they charge you? I was thinking of doing that to my bus as well. We are practically neighbors. I'm on Ellsworth and Southern

$650 he did the inside also which someone had painted with thick latex paint , and sprayed it with primer afterwards. I was more than happy not to have to sand it, I'm at Idaho and Southern and work at Higley and McDowell if you need a hand with anything.
