RE Bluebird All American All Canadian

Wife and I purchased our bus a week ago. She's a 3D animator so expect some awesome 3D work on this thread. (:

I'm currently treating this project as if it was a part time job. Would love to have this liveable by June.

Bus: Bluebird All American/ All Canadian RE
Year: 2001
Engine: 8.3 L6 Cummins
Trans: 3060 Allison
Rated for 78 passengers
Total length: 40ft
Odometer: 178,200 miles

Must haves: (still working on)

Roof raise. Unsure on the raise height maybe 2 feet
Delete and replace windows
Diesel heater for in floor heating
Solar

What we have done so far:

1. Removed all the passenger seats
2. Unhooked the heater lines
3. Removed the flooring

Goal for this weekend is to grind out the rust.

This is all new to me. Feel free to critique, advice, or tell me how awesome I am(:

Welcome to the site.

It sounds like you'll need to take on the conversion in more of a "full time" status, if you want to be in it by June! Especially with a roof raise.
Depending on your level of comfort, it is possible, but expect the unexpected.
This work almost always takes longer than planned, for many reasons.

Good luck, and post pics if you can...

Welcome to the site and feel free make yourself at home. If you plan a 24" roof raise you need to keep in mind the 13' 6" height limit for all vehicles, that includes whatever you put on top of the roof as well like solar panels, decking, vents and any antenna you may plan. I'm new here as well, just last August I think but have the same bus in a 2000 model at 37' long. I'm still in the planning stages but thinking of a 12" to 14" roof raise and a 12" floor raise in the rear half to accommodate plumbing, electrical and battery storage.

Hello Pete! Thank you for the warm welcome.

You got it, I'll be trying my best to do this full time and to the best of my abilities.

Also, Here's a photo of the interior. Tomorrow is not going to be a REST day.... But a RUST day. Wish us luck everybody.

Hi Shamoke! Thank you thank you This forum is the bees knees haha.

Didn't even think about the added height from the solar panel. Definitely want to be under 13'6. Guess I better get the ladder out tomorrow and figure out the height.

How cool! I'll for sure be following your thread. Super thrilled to see the results. It's a fun journey.
