Just finished reading all 120 pages today.. such a sad ending.. I hate it that you didn't get to finish your bus project but it was for a good cause then losing a good friend. Sad ending to the thread.
But I learned few things from this thread because I plan to do roof raising. I am 5'11" and the height of the bus is 6'. Thanks for sharing and sorry for the loss.

Eddie's B-Day was today. He'd have been 40.
We were just glad the new owner loves the bus at least as much as we did.
Shorties are now our thing. Currently own two but one will eventually be sold.
Gonna try out a Cat this time!

Are you on a mobile device?
I looked through a few random pages and didn't see any missing.
Anything in particular you want to see?
I don't own it anymore but have plenty of pics.
Its now called the "Derelicte Bus".

EC,
I read on another post that you said, "My Cat will do at least 80 in 4th!" How did you do that?" How many gears do you have? I assume manual transmission.

Its a lowly allison 545. Its got no overdrive and no lockup. But its got 4.11 ring and pinion so its got long legs out on the highway. If it had any other transmission it would be even better.
I do plan to upgrade the transmission in a year or two if I still have the bus.

37 Studebaker Bus
I'm new to the group and am working on my build. It's a1937 Studebaker Bus. The 1st one they built and the only one known to exist. I got it already started (lifted roof). Other than a 350 small block and 700R tranny, the running gear is original. She tracks down the highway straight and true up to 80mph. I will need to add power assist to the steering, although I can parallel park, it's a workout.
The kitchen is installed, Windows cut in & lots more.
I'm installing wiring and need help with a diagram or simple layout for a basic system. It's just for the 2 of us.
Any advice would be great

I'll give you my advice. Start a dedicated build thread and post lots of pictures! That bus sounds rad!
"The only one to exist". Is that for real? If so you have one very special bus.

almost bought one of those years ago - it was too far gone for my liking, brakes barely worked at all, front end was shot, etc, etc, but I loved the body style - if the frame on this vehicle is anything like the overbuilt frame in the pickups, you'll be able to put tons of 'stuff' in there - have fun with that one

I'll double down on the need for pix. This sounds like one I saw for sale some time back and wondered what became of it. Good on you for taking on a clearly historical project. And from what I recall, absolutely stunning degree of detail built in.

Too late for my advice then. If it's the only one, it should have remained unmolested. Personally, I don't think I could have done a raise on it. Now if you bought twins, one chopped up and one original would be awesome. Your bus, your decision. Just my 2 cents.
And ....
This post is worthless without pics.
