They have a guy riding around in a lil ford ranger just looking for whatever. The city of Eustis is really lax and chill when it comes to this stuff, normally.
I had no problem agreeing with the guy on this one- my carport was collapsing at an exponential rate. Just sucks when I'm enjoying a nice tuesday morning smoke with some really good coffee and I'm interrupted with reality.

An acre of undeveloped land in the middle of nowhere is next on our list of major purchases. I think I hate code enforcement as much as I do taxes and insurance.

I love kicking so much ass!

Good ole' destruction, gotta love it. Pretty much did all this with a regular claw hammer, a big piece of mechanical tubing (heavy and badass) for bashing stuff, a utility knife for the tar paper up top, and a sawzall. Circular saw got a bit scary so the neighbor came over and graciously loaned us his sawzall... AND... gave me 5 gallons of nearly new house paint!

Love my neighbors. mi vecino es muy bueno

Thanks, man. Today I get to borrow a truck and haul it just outside the city so I can burn it. They'd want a couple hundred bucks to dispose of it at the landfill.
Its gonna suck trying to get all the roofing nails out of my yard, but oh well.
I definitely cracked a few eggs yesterday!

SO- for now, instead of raising the roof on a bus, I've been knocking down the roof on my carport.

This pic was taken about halfway through the demo phase today.
I'm sure any of you who may be following or reading through this thread know by know I'm an enthusiastic demo kind of person. I love ripping stuff apart!
So before you probably didn't want to park anything under it for fear of the vehicle being damaged. Now it looks like you've opened up a nice bit of driveway to park cars, buses, etc.

Yeah, I'm gong to put a metal carport up where the shoddy "lean-to" was.
I did keep my grill and a couple mopeds n scooters under it, but I've made room in the actual garage section on the left.

Only in Kali and Fl do folks do demolition in flip flops and sandals

I just got a carport/lean to thing put up yesterday...now gotta go get my car to put in it...9 months been waiting

I hate HOA's and code enforcement...... That is why I am a bonafied Appalachian engineer/hoarder

Good luck CB

Thanks!
Yeah, I ALWAYS wear a pair of Birkenstocks. Haven't worn any other footwear since about 1993. Well- I do own a pair of shoes somewhere, but that's for cold weather.
I do suggest anyone who's not an ass-kicking pro destroyer like myself to wear appropriate footwear!

Funny part is- the guy in boots was the one to get a nail all the way into the sole of his foot! ouch! Isn't it fun working in a big patch of roofing nails?
When I worked at the steel shop it was steel toed Redwings exclusively. Them damned Wolverine "boots" didn't last six months. I'd get about two years out of a pair of Redwings. I have horrible feet, so footwear is one thing I can't cheap out on at all.

Easy on the wolverines?
I wear 250$ red wings out in the same amount of time as the 130$ wolverines and timberlands are nothing but a brand.
My wife wil only wear birk's but I am kind of partial to some TiVo sandals I got awhile back.
Looks/sounds like the lean to needed to be dealt with anyway and you finally got your immediate excuse.
Sucks to drop one project and start another and another and another and never have the time or money or time to finish as you go so odds and ends are left as one day I need to do this?

I guess we just have different feet, man.
The wolverines I had felt like hiking boots more than work boots.
A good cheap boot I liked was a CE Schmidt from Tractor Supply. Lasted like 18 months! Georgia Boot makes some good work boots too. But I liked the redwings the best.
Glad I don't need em anymore though.
And glad I've gotten most of the carport cleaned up and am more or less done.

If you ever need good boots in the future try out a pair of Corcoran Matterhorns with the composite toe. I used to work on residential house foundations. These things may be $250+ but I have never found any other brand that will take a beating like these will. Worked in them for over a year in mud, concrete dust and sludge of unknown origin before I changed jobs and they still look almost brand new. Wore them pretty much every day since then too. I agree about the wolverines, had a pair that lasted all of about 2 months before they fell apart...

I loaned my sawzall out a few years ago to a guy who asked "does it really cut through everything?"... Yep! use the long blade to cut a wall out..

"what about wires and pipes? will it handle those?" sure will!!

he cut through a wall with the water and electric still turned on and was upset when sparks flew and water sprayed because it didnt "handle" those.... wow! some people need not be given access to tools... oh and even though it got shocked and soaked my sawzall (milwaukee) lives today still... its great wgen you want to turn a skoolie seat into a bench

Sounds like the type of feller that would lit a cigarette then cut into a gas line.
