Reinstalled all the cabinet doors, drawers and hardware etc.















The brass got pretty well scuffed off this one handle - from no use whatsoever. $5 at Home Depot doesn't get you what it used to.



Insulated some of the edge window pillars so I could reinstall the paneling.















You can see the color difference between my old paint (upper panel) and the new paint (lower panel) pretty clearly here. Oh well ...



I love the overwhelming whiteness in here now.

All my wall panels are reinstalled with insulation behind them.













Insulated the spaces above the side door.



Broken pillar was an easy fix.





Next I get to start on the trim, which will hopefully take a little bit less than forever.

I'm going to have to pull all this stuff out again to paint it. Sigh.

Slow going but I managed to trim my lintel at least. This was just a spacer piece and I can't for the life of me remember why it was necessary.



So happy a past version of me bought a band saw.





This curved top piece should look better once it's painted.



Since the door opens outward, these trim pieces overlap the jamb by about 1/4" to prevent air getting through the gap between door and frame. It will make the opening a tiny bit smaller.

Making sure the insulated window cover I made two years ago still fits.



I made it with about a 3/8" lip but I'm going with much tighter trim and I only need about a 1/16" lip now so I ripped it down on my table saw.





Edge is nicely bunged up now and the face is scraped so I'll need to repaint it anyway.









Tomorrow I'll install the retaining clips and see if those work like I expect. I may instead just use those little plastic tabs that are used to hold storm windows in place, but the steel retaining clips would be faster to work.

my collins bus has panel latches that by design act like they are spring loaded but they are not but to open the access panel you just flip the latch open and to close the panel you just flip the latch back over edge of the hatch.
pretty heavy duty and shouldnt be to expensive.
maybe try collins website or busparts.com for collins panel latches?
maybe thats what they are called.

i just tried to do a quick search and didnt find what i am talking about yet but i did find the dang burgaclip/ refrigerant fittings and clamps i looked for far months on end before i changed the entire system instead of just fixing what i was left with from the previous owner.

When I built my steel door, I welded on three tabs to prevent the door from swinging inwards, but then I had to cut three notches in the wood frame so it would go past them. Screwed three little pieces of wood to the outer jamb to fill these spaces.





I then added little wood tabs to seal the gaps around these.





Unfortunately, this new trim increased the friction on my latch and I wound up twisting my door handles off the shaft. I had to do some grinding on the center latch and the upper post to loosen the mechanism enough to open and close it easily, and some bicycle chain grease helped as well. I'm going to have to make new handles now; I'm using an adjustable wrench in the meantime.

Finished the outer door trim. The piece on the lower right is just offline enough to drive me crazy.







The bottom door pieces are going to have to wait until I put in my subfloor and figure out how I'm going to deal with this step-in here.

Some ceiling panel seam trim. I kind of like the Tudor-style of this trim, even though I'll be painting it white eventually. It's just too cheap and nasty up close to work as bare wood.



Lintel trim for the side door.



Finished the side door trim.



I cracked the oak strike plate I made for this latch, need to redo it tomorrow. I'm also going to have to attach some wood to the door to fill this gap that was needed to allow the latch mechanism to swing past.

A little bit of trim next to the side door.



Milled the rest of the special trim for the ceiling-to-wall seams and installed it everywhere it needs to be.







These pieces in the back of the open kitchen shelf killed my wrist because of the angle I had to hold the screwdriver at. I really need to get a cheap electric screwdriver.

Wait-you've done all this with a manual screwdriver?? Do you use slotted screws too? That's painful to think about.
