You have no doubt influenced more than a few -- you are setting the bar on rust rehab.
But you are also learning yourself to weld -- those skilz will carry over to future projects!

I only learned about this yesterday myself. I usually just look on the sidebar at the "recent threads" list or else click on the notification emails.

I go through all of the threads I am subscribed to with new posts in "UserCP" , then I start on the "New Posts" button to see what may have been put up recently. There are so many ways to use this forum.

Are you going to EVENTUALLY* paint the entire underside?

Yeah, "eventually" the entire underside of the bus will be this yellow. I can seriously imagine myself lying on the ground underneath my bus looking up at it.
The floor ahead of the repaired part doesn't have any major holes, but the overall surface rust on everything is enough of a concern to me that I need to arrest it at least sort of soon. But for the sake of my sanity I need to make some kind of visible progress on the interior. I'm more than a year into this now and I still have gigantic holes in my floor.
I am going to take a small detour soon and de-rust and paint the primary air tank, which looks about as sketchy as the underside of my fuel tank does right now.

Save some room for friends to gander at your bus underside. From what little you have shown us, it will be a sight to see.

I did that to two of the three air tanks I have hangng under the bus. I really need to lower the tanks and do a proper job. Again, once the move is over and I have a place I can let The Beast be disabled for long periods of time will be the "when" of that project.

Just got an email invoice from some random scammer for $8882.00. Do they think coronavirus makes people stupid? "The world is ending but I'd better give nine grand to some company I've never even heard of."

Man, the rest of the bus looks out of place now with all that yellow framework.
You still have a little black paint on the end of your air tank ... what's your rush? LOL

The nice thing about the second coat is that the first coat makes the surface smooth and the second coat goes on easier.

Heh, I'm worried that black disk might explode off the end of the tank.
I agree about the yellow. It's becoming more and more of a compulsion to see the whole thing that color. I'm going to try to just do small bits of it at a time, though, while getting the subfloor in place.

Oh yeah. This "Rustoleum Panic Yellow" is such a nice thick paint, too. The second coat is like spreading honey on a buttered english muffin. I shouldn't say that since we haven't been able to find any english muffins for a while.

Uh, serious question: does it look like I'm in any danger of having that air tank explode on me? Should I let all the air out from the three valves on the bottom before going any further?

Personally, I do not think so. You would most likely get a slow leak that would progress into not being able to hold any pressure in the tank.
My tanks were like yours. The paint came off because a layer of rust had worked its way in there between the paint and the metal. Once the paint was gone, the rust layer was mostly surface rust. I did a light brushing and a treatment with Ospho. In the pictures, there is a bit of dirt on the tanks, but there is actually paint on them. The dirt looks a lot like rust though.
