Thanks very much! For the record, the cheese cubes aren't really part of the system, they're to keep me from stepping on the ends of the welded screws. I'm pretty sure I would have lost a foot by now without them.

Last of the eight floor panels painted. I'm skipping painting the underside for these, since they're already primed.

Second coat of yellow. It's weird, the Safety Blue variant of this paint generally requires only a single coat but this yellow always needs at least two coats.

Hopefully I can assemble the floor on Wednesday. This paint will probably still be too tacky to do it tomorrow.

Nice work! There's something satisfying about seeing that floor with it's cheese cubes.

New bracket for bottom bar of side door latch

I'm amazed I still have anything that I pulled off my bus more than a year ago, but unfortunately I lost the bracket that guides the bottom bar on the side door. It wouldn't have worked without modification anyway (since I'm catching the bar on vertical sill piece), so I just built a new one to fit exactly.

Happened to have this piece of bent 1/8" sheet that I ordered from my metal supplier last year for something I ended up not doing. So convenient to have random pieces of metal floating around.

I keep all sorts of little bits and pieces of metal just for that sort of thing. Sure, if you have a real good supply of stock and a brake, drill press, vice, etc. you could get away with tossing all the scraps. Not so in my garage!

The usual doctored underside to fit over things on the floor. I almost did all of this on the top side instead of the bottom, which would have ruined the piece.

The one screw I torqued out. This one came out almost as soon as I started screwing the dowel down on it - the other ones have all come out when the dowel touches the floor. Unfortunately it's at the juncture of three floor panels so I can't ignore it.

One seam is iffy, one piece is wanting to bow up. I'm eventually going to fishplate anything like this before putting down the underlayment, but it seems to be another consequence of the cheap plywood.

It does look pretty awesome. I don't have any rusty disastrous messes inside the bus any more. Also fun to walk on this floor.

My happy is tempered by the fact that I spilled a bit of gasoline in the back of the bus on the drive back to my lot, which ate away a bit of the XPS. I'm probably going to have to remove two of the back pieces of plywood flooring to fix it. The drive over I was smelling the gasoline and thinking "ha ha, that's not me, my bus is diesel!" and forgetting I have gasoline jugs for my generators.

Wow, that is a bummer! Gasoline + XPS = molten mess!

So far, I have trashed already-installed XPS by 1) welding near it, 2) spraying weld-spatter onto it, and now 3) pouring gasoline on it. Really wish I could have done the ceilings and walls first.

It looks like the gouge is maybe a foot long and an inch deep, and this was just from a tiny trickle of gas that seeped out of a mostly-empty can. If a full can had spilled, I'm pretty sure I would have had to redo the entire floor back there, including the dropped part.

No more hauling gas around in my bus, unless it's in my step well.

On the other hand, you may have discovered an alternative to the routing out of pex lines for radiant floor heating.

Looking good! Wow!

Bummer about the gasoline, but I'm really glad it was only a tiny amount, and there was no ignition source around.

Thanks a lot. It's pretty strange to be in my bus now after imagining this for so long.

I have of course already tripped on the edges of the sunken part two or three times. I'm reasonably certain I'm going to step backwards over the edge at some point and turn my ankle. But somehow I managed to never impale myself on one of the upright screws.
