I kind of like how they look now with the open centers, but alas they will eventually be filled in with XPS foam and then a flat piece of trim will go over the front and they'll just look like ordinary pillars.

Is there a purpose for these posts other than looks and some insulation value? They do make it look more solid, substantial and elegant.

They provide framing for the XPS inserts I'm going to make for each window. I did consider not adding posts and instead having each insert touch its neighbors, but there'd be nothing holding them in at the middle that way. I also considered putting these posts on every other rib and making each insert cover two windows, but I wanted the complete flexibility that one insert for each window will provide me.
The advantage of attaching them with the original window screws like this is that I can easily remove them if I need to replace a window (which I already do, having broken three of them so far).

Sounds like a good plan. Are you going to cover the XPS inserts with fabric, paint, or ???

PS. Lazy as I am, I would have probably have figured out a way to use magnets to hold the inserts in and would never have considered the looks that the posts achieve.

They'll be faced with 5mm plywood, same paneling as I'm using everywhere else. I've already made two of them but I can't find it in my own build thread. The ones for the side windows will be hinged so they store more compactly. I'm going to build an underbody storage bin to keep these in when they're not in use.
Edit: here it is.

Hmm, magnets would have been an interesting idea.

One other benefit of these posts is that there will be a few places where I have to run wires from below the windows to above them, and I can channel them behind these posts pretty easily. Also they're going to hold the screens for the windows.

Finally occurred to me to raise the miter saw up to my level. Also hooked up an old Bose radio for some music - this is the first time in two years I've ever worked with music playing, it's quite nice.
More window posts.
Measure twice cut once.
Measure thrice cut twice.
Finished the passenger side posts, except I need to trim the fronts of all of these.

The bench seat pulls arrived for my toilet. They're a bit smaller than I thought they would be (the listing was accurate, my brain was not) but I think I'll still use them.
I might mount them side by side like this.
My dowel tool is nearing retirement. Only 5 or 6 more to do.
This is a different variety of 5mm underlayment panel, from Home Depot. I like it more than the other kind from Lowe's which has some cracking and peeling on the top layer (I can fix it but I'd rather not).

Thanks! Two years of work and I'm so, so close ... to a featureless white room. It will be a self-propelled white room, at least.
