Got the pictures BIGGER looks much better now. Me and a buddy built it for camping out at motorsport functions such as Eldora Raceway, Bowling Green Tractor Pull and stag trips, pub crawls, and family campouts. There will be more pictures I the future now that I know how this works.

Re: Slab Cab'n

Fridge if I recall is a 12 Cubic foot. Definitely use it with shore power, but when we go out on pub crawls we also run it off the inverter. Its was brand new so I think it is somewhat energy efficient. If we know we are going out we'll cool it off with shore power and then its not such a strain on the batteries. For the bunk framing I'll ask my buddy if he still has some pictures(I didn't have a computer or digital camera at the time).
But they are made with 2x6's 5/8 plywwod on the top bunk and 1/2(lid for storage - damn wheel wells) plywood on the bottom ones. Ill take some more pictures this week and post'em.

Re: Slab Cab'n

We wanted all the room we could have for bottles and mix, but when we go camping, depending if it is raining we have a small coleman propane stove stored under the counter, that fits on top if it right nice. Our biggest dilema right now is where to put the garbage. We bought a cheap one that is just beside/behind the driver but is in the way of the electronics cabinet. Every time we change a video or game its in the way. So I think we are going to put it under the back TV. We have a space 12" wide by 24" deep and 4' tall all that that is in there is our breaker box and a selector switch for our shore power/house power.

Re: Slab Cab'n

Here is the new Dog House Cover I machined at work out of 1/8 Stainless. I engraved the following:
Welcome Aboard The SLAB CAB'N

Also I stumbled across a used Paloma Tankless Water Heater. Model # PH-5-2F. The guy is selling for $300 with a 12 volt water pump. Picking it up Saturday. Anyone using one of these?

This is what the add said

Compare it to the new PH-6 on website

Wow that is one awesome bus, nice blend of party bus and RV.

I love the beer bottle door handle, any chance you'd be interested in making one to sell?

Re: Slab Cab'n

Thanks, and its even functional. It sure pays dividends that I'm a machinist and my buddy the co-owner is an electrician, we haven't paid for any labour except for the old bus seat vinyl to be sewn together for the new seats.

Wouldn't be that hard to make one, I made that one years ago, on the manual lathe. We have a CNC lathe here at work and it wouldn't take our operater very long to whip 1 or 2 or 5 off. Actually we don't live very for from each other, I am 10 min from Algonac, or 15 min from Marine City, on the Canadian side.
What you probably can't see is I engraved the Blue Bird logo on both sides of the bottle, with a .01 carbide cutter, turned out good.

Re: Slab Cab'n

Yeah I'm about 2.5 hours past Detroit... I've been to Canada a few times with my bus most recently this past February. Me and Jason went to Dave's Farm in London, Ontario. It was a lot of fun, we can't wait to go back but with fuel at $4.70 a gallon it might not be for a while.

With fuel prices what they are, I'd be better off if you could mail me one. Any idea what your lathe operator would charge?

I'll look in to it, I'm sure you'll want all the back and side work done so its a bolt on application. Probably have to take mine apart to see what I did.

Re: Slab Cab'n

Well...its been a while, but now we are up against the gun to get the outside finished. Too busy/lazy to figure out how to post the pictures I recently took of the improvements. Maybe I'll get motivated to do it soon.

BUT for you that are on facebook you can see the progress here:

It's good to see you back here on skoolie. I took several ideas from your work when starting our project in September '09 for which I am most appreciative. Your recent body work is looking good, keep up the posts.
