Spirit of the North

decided to take the plunge on this 1980 GMC 34.5' long bus - it has the motor and transmission I want and hopefully it's already registered as an RV - even if the motor needs repair or replacement, and some other things need R&R, I can't go too far wrong on this high ceiling bus for $600 - now if I can just get hold of the owner and iron out a couple of details before he sells it to someone else - ( The title of 'Spirit of the North' is what the bus will be named - my kennel is named 'Spirit of the North Kennels' - might as well keep the theme going ) I think I'll paint it royal blue and a creamy white, with some art work showing running sleddogs on the sides

366 on propane - l may look into what it needs to be dual fuel - l like the split rear end too - from what l could see of the interior, it looks like it had a couple of leaky windows, so there is likely some rust - not too much l hope

Saw that when he 1st posted the bus.

Seemed to me, at the time, destiny took a hand.

Or a paw...

At least there won't be much carbon buildup internally, being run on propane. Hope you have good LP suppliers in your area? Your previous idea of carrying 20# "spares" is good.
Gasoline vs LP cost, as well as the ease of refueling in more places on the open road, might make a worthwhile dual fuel powered engine conversion. Although it won't be cheap!...

I have an old Ford van on dual fuel - I'll take a look at that and see what I need, or if it will do double duty on a GMC

There was a thread recently where a member detailed his propane to gasoline conversion.

From what I recall, it was pretty straight forward.

Fuel tank, pump, line and filter installed to support swapping the intake manifold for a TBI package.

I wasn't entirely sure but I think that the factory wire loom had the TBI connections in place.

Just a thought

My best understanding is that VIN's on modern vehicles are 17 digits and the first digit (WMI) indicates country of manufacturer.: 1- US, 2-Canada and 3- Mexico..

If the vehicle is mid 80's or newer, I suspect that you have an incomplete VIN.
