Re: The Brown Crown

This conversation is a testament to why it is so great to build your own RV to your own needs. My dinette is probably the most used area of my bus. I'm sitting at it right now, writing this post.

Re: The Brown Crown

Definitely makes me rethink my dinette, my motive... To accomadate myself and the old lady, or for the POSSIBLE convenience of others.
Space is very valuable on these buses.

never too late to rearrange, sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do. We thought about the dinette and then decided on a foldout table and some folding chairs, options are always good.

Re: The Brown Crown

Got the walls put up this morning on part of the Crown remodel. The couch is going to go here. Don't have any more wood grain paneling and I can’t get any to match it, so I had to use half and half from the supply I had on hand, but the couch will hide that anyway, even when put down as a bed.

I also caulked around the floor engine access plates to prevent carbon monoxide fumes from seeping into the cabin. Tomorrow the couch gets moved and then the finishing trim for that area.

You are moving fast. Your comments on the engine hatch seal got my attention. I have to remember to do something similar when we finish the flooring.

Re: The Brown Crown

I was able to get my couch moved to the port side today Also finished the trim around the wall pieces. I need to do a little more insulation upgrade on that side of the bus, then will switch my efforts to building my new wet bar area which will go under where my television is.

Here are some pics of today's efforts

BC, when I visited you a couple of years ago you told me where you got your window shades and I'm sorry to say that I've forgotten. Would you refresh my memory please as these are what I'd like to use on my skoolie. Thanks, Jack

Re: The Brown Crown

Making some progress on the bus today. The basic frame for the new wet bar in the Crown begins to take shape. Can't see it in these pics, but I also drilled holes in the floor for the plumbing for the sink. On the left end, there will also be an extension of the length, but only half as high. It will funciton as a smaller cabinet space and a place to put the coffee maker so that is does not block the view of the TV. Carpet in that area will come up and be replaced with better insulation.

Lot's more framing to be done and getting the electrical boxes put in and wired using the old wires that are hanging on the TV wall.

The inverter will be built into the area as well.

Also got a good deal on a bar sink and faucet combination package at Home Depot for $90

Re: The Brown Crown

Got some more construction work done on the wet bar project. I was able to get a countertop piece cut for the sink and a built-in ice bucket. I also ran the electrical for two GFI sockets and got the plumbing almost done. I had to offset the plumbing through the floor becasue below this area is a bulkhead seperating the engine compartment from what was the spare tire compartment and I didn't want to cut through the bulkhead. Here are a few pics of the recent work.

Looking good BC. Is the piece of clear plastic hose a drain for the ice bucket?

Yes, that is what it is for. The tube will go through the floorboard to the outside. The bucket will also have an insulated lid that will fit nearly flush with the counter when it is completed

Re: The Brown Crown

This weekend I was able to finish building the shelf and supports for my reconstruction project. I also built a protective covering for the inverter which is open at the front and back for ventilation, but the front will have a small door to prevent kicking the inverter with the feet

About 3/4 of the way done with this now, most of what is left is finishing work
