FYI, on the cracked dash; what about some gorilla tape the cracks, then add a padded vinyl fabric. Found several youtubes, here is just one of them:

You should have quoted the post you're referring to. I'm not going back through 50 pages to try and find what you referance.

I assume you plan to pull a vacuum on the lines and let it sit a good while before you release the refrigerant.

The unit with the refrigerant in it has been mounted and sitting for about 2 months. Directions say, crack the small valve for 10 seconds, check for leaks, if no leaks open that valve while holding open the schrader valve for 10 seconds, and then open both valves. Followed those, fired it up and it works fine.
Just need to find a good place for the drain tube.

The directions tell you everything except how to change from C to F.

You didn’t pump the air out of the lines? Maybe I am missing something but unless your lines were precharged there will be air and water vapor in the lines and you are playing with a near term system failure.

Air and water don’t play nice with refrigerant, compressors and expansion tubes.

The charge is in the outside unit, when you open one valve it flows in under pressure. By releasing the schrader valve bleeds the air out.

I'm with David.

I think that I would be tempted to draw a good vacuum on the lines then crack the valve to release the charge.

Belt and suspenders

I'll just err on the side of the manufacturers directions. It seems to be working just fine.

The bleed method will not purge any condensed water. The manufacturer may say what they say, but ask any AC tech what they say about this and I think you’ll get the same answer.

What am I missing? The charge is pressurized and when you crack the valve open the presurized fluid runs through the line while the schrader valve is open. 10 seconds worth of open schrader clears the air and moisture out till the resurized charge comes full circlew to the schrader valve. Seems to me the pressure on one end creates the same as vacuum on the other end.

A vacuum will vaporize any liquid water and pump it out of the system, a surge of refrigerant won’t.

I’m not trying win an argument, and what you do with your system is up to you.

Maybe it will be fine, but there is a reason HVAC techs do it the way they do.

Here is a discussion on the topic. It is discussing vehicle A/C but the concept applies to all of these kinds of systems.

Been racking my brain on what light to use in the garage. Ran into this at Walmart and thought it was exactly what I needed. Just need to take it apart and, delete the pull chain switch and hard wire it. $17 for 3200Lumens, $21 for this 5000lumens unit. That should be plenty bright, try it out later after dark.
Now off to Wally World to pick up the new batteries.

Looks like T-5 bulbs. I didn't/couldn't read the packaging. I have 36" ones for the fish tank. Good choice. If you get it in there and don't like the color of the light, look up aquarium bulbs and you can get about anything you want. In a garage, I'd think you'd want white. 10k bulb is what you need for that. Cooler is yellow, hotter is blue.

They are LED strips, not bulbs. Let me tell you, this thing is bright as fook. Bright white light. About 300 individual LED's

I counted about 75 LED's about half way, so roughly 300 in the 2 rows.

That's a much more betterer picture than the box.
