Captain's Log--Five minutes later: The energy born of excitement soon faded and munity set in.

Captain's Log--Restless locals: Some of the indigenous have shown disdain for the vessel--I shall investigate...
Met with hostility, I've decided to move the vessel from the street.
Having relocated the vessel, we completed the demo and recycled the interior aluminum panels for use in skinning the exterior window openings.

Re: The Crown files...
What is the interior height in a Crown? Is this rear or mid engine...I gotta have one someday!

Re: The Crown files...
Thanks for the welcome.
After installing 3/4" tounge and groove(painted the exsposed side), 1/2" sound board, 1/2" osb and 1/4" floor covering, it's about 6' 2 1/2".
The motors mounted mid-ship on be its left side. Presuming the crown is mechanically and structurally sound, the biggest challenge is accessory placement and storage.
House batteries...
Starting batteries-they swing out and there was enough space behind them to mount four six volts.
Closer on the frame I welded up for the six volts.

Re: The Crown files...
The shot with the insulation looks like a freakin spaceship! Beam me up!
How thick is the floor overall after you put the top layer on? Do the Crowns come with a taller ceiling?
I will be watching your build....drool...
Looking good so far, how is the access to the engine?

Re: The Crown files...
Are you adding windows after the walls are done?
Can I ask what she cost you? (curiousity)

It really does! Or like one of those 1930's "Sky Captain" airplane of the future shots.
What kind of insulation did you use? How did you secure it to the ceiling?

3k
To my recollection it's 1" foil faced polystyrene-I just squeezed it between the framework. Ya, I thought it would be easier to punch the windows in after the exterior skins and interior walls.

Fair price IMO... Have you driven her much yet? You are making so much progress! Course you got the high-strung boys to help you when in need!
I like the narrow window height on the remaining windows, will look so good with some tint & a few other windows punched in...

Re: The Crown files...
Captain's Log: As summer recedes, large quantities of insomnia have come aboard. As I write, questions of paint schemes, trim rings and should I use propylene or ethylene? haunt my psyche. All is not dark though, I heard murmurings of a water tank factory who sells direct in my vicinity. I drove up today and stumbled upon a bus converter's oasis--tank after tank of white, cubic, water holding perfection--the only thing missing was the 200% mark-up. I'll post some pics manana to prove to myself I've done something.

Re: The Crown files...
Nice work! Love the ceiling & the "walnut" looks great - good contrast.
The sleepless nights will kill ya after while! & it never dissipates....
What color did you paint the dash?
