Thanks for the advice, I have done my share of wiring harnesses in the Navy. It can get bulky when you use heat shrink to cover where you solder.

Re: The Journey Visvi 1999 Thomas MVP ER
Just finished ordering my LED marker lamps.
The marker lamps that run around the top I could only find at http://www.apartswarehouse.com/Brows....aspx?CatID=54
The best price for my armored side turn signal lamps I found at http://www.southwestwheel.com/store/...nce-light.aspx
They also have my rear 7" round red stop/tail and amber turn signal LED lamps. The rear backup LED lamps. But I have not found my front square amber turn signal LED lamps.
Anyone know where to find these let me know.

My bus passed inspection. It only took six days. Tomorrow I start getting ready to raise the roof.

Re: The Journey Visvi 1999 Thomas MVP ER
Brought the bus home to load up all my tools again. I removed them to clear space for the inspector.
Durango waiting for me to load up and get moving.
Everything loaded up and Durango wondering why are we not moving yet.
A gift from a friend for my dash board, now we are ready to roll.
I didn't have much time before the rain came, so I just removed all the screws holding the covers for the window U channel.
These things are glued on and are a pain to remove. I will break them all loose and put them back on until I'm ready to raise the roof. This will help keep the rain out.

I love the pics. Can't get over how nice and clean your bus is, but it soon won't be Durango looks like he is enjoying himself.

He loves to travel. For some reason he decided my impact driver needed to be hearded. Everytime I came down off the ladder, he would try to nip at the driver.

Re: The Journey Visvi 1999 Thomas MVP ER
Just received some good news. I want to use the Marine Hydronic heat system to heat my bus. I talked to SureMarine to see what I need to get. They told me their system will only work with the Webasto DBW2010 system, not sure if it will work with the Scholastic system my bus has.
I have been trying to find out what the difference is. The Scholastic is yellow but looks the same as the DBW2010. After mine was replaced last year it is now the same grey as the DBW2010.
Finally the answer.
Quote:
The Scholastic Series uses a DBW 2010 plus it has a pump and enclosure.
These have different part numbers, because there are other differences as well. For example, the DBW-2010 is available in 24 volts, whereas the Scholastic only comes as a 12-volt model. For many bus owners, this is an important distinction and could be a point of confusion if they were looking for a Scholastic model.
For the benefit of anyone following along the Scholastic is a package system marketed by Webasto specifically for the school bus market (as in actual school buses, not conversions). It is intended to be more "plug and play" for school bus fleets, and thus includes a pump, some additional control wiring, an interconnecting hose from the pump to the boiler, and, as a nod to "school bus yellow", the boiler housing is finished in yellow as opposed to the silver of a stock DBW boiler.
|
Looks like I'm good to go. I can use the Marine system with mine. They use a Surewire Water by Sure Marine Service.
•Ready for hassle free thermostat wiring - Up to four zones!
•Domestic water heater control wiring
•Easy to add engine heat control
•Hour meter to track run time of the heater
•Comes with protective cover and backing plate
•Breaker protection of heater in one convenient place
•Installation Manual

Re: The Journey Visvi 1999 Thomas MVP ER
More good news. After finding the Service and Repair manual for the Webasto Coolent heaters. It shows another difference between the DBW 2010 and the Scholastic.
The Scholastic has the fuel pre-heater to allow it to operate better below 32 degrees. There are a few other safety features added too.

Re: The Journey Visvi 1999 Thomas MVP ER
I was hoping to finish removing the outside covers for the window U channel. But mother nature had other plans so it was raining. So indoors I go to do some fabricating.
I spent the day creating the roof raising mechanism. I'm going to put a lot of detail here, so if you are not a detail kind of person, you can skip all of this. For those who like details, well here you go.
The part that will support the ram will be bolted through the existing two holes that hold the window holders. The support is 2" x 1 1/2" x 14 ga cut to 24" long. The bolt holes on my bus are 20 1/8" apart on center. I'm drilling the bottom hole 1 1/2" from the end, this will put the other hole about 2 3/8" from the top. Always measure from the same end, the tubing length could be off a little. I'm drilling a 3/8" hole for the bolts, then drilling a 1" hole to allow my socket to fit to tighten the bolt. The bolts I'm using are 5/16" x 4"
This time I remembered to use my center punch, and dug my drill press out of storage.
Threaded rod will be used to lift the roof. I got 5/8" 11 x 36". I picked up two and will cut them in half, this will give me 18" to raise with.
I put nuts around where I will cut the rod so I can clean up the threads when done.
