Hey New To The Site, New To Bus Ownership!

Just bought a 1993 Bluebird School Bus, 90,000 original miles all original bus!
Cummings Diesel with Allison Trans. Great Runner, Great Shape!

Cant wait to see what I do with her!
They topped of the tank! I basically bought her for $300.00 considering the fuel cost.

Gotta love the column shift. A Ford is the only way to get it too. Ford air brakes have always seemed to have a delightful sound of their own too, even though my components are all off the shelf Bendex stuff.

The mechanics at the Portsmouth (Va) Bus Barn told me the F700 is a superior bus, that I should stay away from the B600... Looks like a nice clean bus you have there too!!

B bus chassis with a front end and fierwall up to the bottom of the windshield, no cab, F series is a cab and chassis.

In Ford lingo, the B700 would be considered a "Cut-a-way" of the F700... Much like the E350 van's they use for Motor homes & ambulances etc, they too are considered "Cut-a-way's" by Ford... It's just their wording for it, they are not actually cut away units, they are partitially built that way.

Thanks I cant wait to see what she morphs into. Still need to get her registered in Oregon as an RV... Bed and Food Cooking... Any easy ideas to accomplish this?

Took seats out of bus... used this site as a refrence to start the project.

I started off by removing all the inside perimeter nuts and bolts by my self... seemed to be easier with the lack of room and comfort as I layed on the floor to perform this, took about 2 hours or so (for just over half the seats)

Used my friends to help.

Two on deck , two below the bus outside. Went like clockwork.... Quite a few of the bolts just broke from rust and pressure.
This took about 30 minutes max. ( Thanks guys).

Then I removed the conduit cover over the driver side lenght of the bus above all the windows.... This gave me access to the OEM speakers ...and wiring harness.
I removed the old speakers and installed new Clarion speakers witched matched the existing holes. I used the old wiring to pull the new wiring into place.
All the new wiring was run up to the front by the existing stereo/pa system....

I removed the old stereo and lost internal PA usage but outdoor PA still works. I wired my new Clarion Deck, it has a USB connection to plug in USB thumb drives with MP3's as a source.
While in this stage I replaced the old Bus antenna with brand new one... Got all the radio stations loud and clear now! The bus jams.... sometimes I just sit in it jamming out and day dreaming....

Ran wire up and down conduit : 2 RG6 , 3 Cat V, Speaker Wires

Should I remove the existing alarm/ emergency door and window wiring?

I threw a cabinet and microwave at midpoint down the bus for the "Kitchen" still need to get the bus registered and legal... soon

How much did you say you paid for that bus? A tank of fuel is only a hundred or two. With such low milage, you may have gotten a real bargain.

Paid $500 cash...
They filled the tank at over $5.00 per gallon at the time.... drove her home 100 miles and still had over half a tank left!
I figure not quite $200 or so in fuel.
Once in a lifetime deal! Only 89,600 miles on her!

Some updated pics... fresh paint in the drivers compartment, new tunes (Clarion deck with usb mp3 player! I have over 900 songs on the 4 gig usb flash drive... I cant decide what to listen to when I'm working on her!), new speakers & speaker wire, am/fm antennea (im rockin' now!).. Ran 3 CatV E and 2 RG6 runs up high the length of the bus... ( future PC Gaming/Internet/Distributed Data and Video/ possbile exterior PTZ Cams) ( just takes money!)

Put a cabinet in middle with AC/DC power station. Will mount fridge next to cabinet over wheel well area.

Just got my hands on a used but new to me wood stove for the bus! it even has enough space to cook on!
Finally a warm bus is in the near future!

Agent said... hot plate , cot , and remove enough seats to change bus seating capacity to meet the requirements of your standard Oregon Drivers Licence.

Once again I need your guys help....

The insurance underwriter said no go on insurance. Needs perminently mounted kitchen and bed area....
Any ideas.. It's state farms... any out of the box thinkers?
