Re: Whitey The Toy Hauler

Awesome looking bus, and quick conversion time! What did it cost you to do the conversion? I noticed it has the stock rear door. What do you plan on hauling? I ask because I'm planning on building a hauler to carry my motorcycle and was thinking of building a lift carrier off the back to hold the bike instead of losing valudable living space inside. Also would have to modify the back to open wide so the bike would fit. Thanks.

Welcome.
Fantastic build. Love your woodworking. What kind of heater is that on the wall.

VERY NICE. Where is your water? Is that a heater mounted on the wall? Do tell details about that please. Love the lights, how are you powering them? What sort of genset on board?

Re: Whitey The Toy Hauler

Thanks for all the kind words. I will be mostly hauling motorcycles. Sport bikes, cafe bikes & dirt bikes should fit through the door with no issues. I plan on using a slide out ramp to get them on & off the bus. The propane heat source on the passenger side is a "ProCom Blue Flame Wall Heater — 10,000 BTU". I will also be using a nice floor mounted electric heater plus another "Gel canister burning" heater (I currently have candles in it) that is mounted on the wall of the drivers side for back-up heat. I have 2 fresh water tanks (1 is mounted inside, under a bench so it won't freeze), a grey water & black water tank mounted underneath the bus. Right now I have generator with a electric plug-in cord for power. I'm hoping to run a high end 30amp inverter soon with an extra set of RV batteries. The total build cost around $7k including the bus PLUS over 1000 hrs of build time.

Sammy the Skunk helped throughout the build.

Re: Whitey The Toy Hauler

Man that thing came out nice! I like the simple, open layout that has everything you need. How did you attach the wood to the ceiling? It looks like it's being screwed in through the tongue part of the wood but hard to see if it is. The screws must be real small if that's how it was done.
Also, is that real brick and if so how was it applied? I like the look.
$7k to buy and build that is a great price, especially considering it has water and plumbing! Once again, just awesome! Hope you get lots of enjoyment using it.

That's very impressive for such a quick build. I like the mix of wood and metal. I'm considering something like that on my bus. Well done on a beautiful conversion!

I am completely blown away by how gorgeous the interior of your bus came out! The combination of materials is really nice. I'm curious though as to why you did not remove the windows that are behind cabinets and replace them with sheet metal. Do you have plans for those windows, or will it remain "as is"?

Thanks again for all the king words. Yes Sammy is a real (pet) skunk!
The bench/Bed set-up is very efficient.

"Yes Sammy is a real (pet) skunk"

LOL that's awesome! What kind of pets do they make and how did you come by a pet skunk? What made you want one?

Any thoughts of wheel chocks or how to secure the bikes? Any pics with them loaded? I'm still trying to get mine designed with a garage.

Re: Whitey The Toy Hauler

That is one FINE looking bus.

Is the bathroom a wet bath, that is the toilet is in the shower stall, or is it just a 1/2 bath?

That rear garage is finished out so nice I was wondering if you had considered installing a couple fold down bunks on the sides or maybe a putting a full sized bed in there when not hauling anything and just camping.

Skunks make great pets! Like cats but smarter. I finally installed wheel chocks & flush mount tie down hooks. Also put a hitch on her and drove it from PA to NC last weekend for a stunt show. It drove & hauled perfect on it's first maiden voyage. Only Averaged 9 mpg city but 11.5 on the highway @ 55 moh. Not too shabby for a non turbo 7.3 with 5.38 gears lol
