shoes off!

Understanding I need to check for compatibility, what is everyone’s favorite adhesive for between layers of metal floor-pink xps-t&g ply? Going to go with PL 300 or PL Premium unless I come across something else I like better.

It sure is a nice feeling to get to that stage. In my case, it is barefooted!

Indeed, lots of progress and lots of pictures... me likes!

Take a Skil saw and run a line about 1/2" deep right down the center, you should be able to bend it just enough to get past the lip. With the cut on the bottom, it won't be visible when installed.

Thanks guys. I have to be one of the best at turning relatively simple tasks into a PITA! Anyway, with a little finesse I’m happy with the results. I’m glad nobody was watching that goat rope! Hopefully, like the rest of the project, it’ll get a little easier each time.

Good ol' cinder blocks! I believe I have used them a few times as ballast.

They’ve been hanging out in a pile for about a year, waiting for this moment...that and a few sandbags I borrowed back (now that the roads are better) out of my kids’ truck.

Had some good days of solo work. My wife and kids were out of state enjoying some sun. Couldn’t be happier with how the floor is going in. 3/4 of the way done but need to pack it in for now. Got everything cleaned up and cut for what should be a quick finish, maybe this weekend. Click image for larger version

Oh, and excited about the $1250 quote to have the walls and ceiling sprayed with 2.5” of foam. That might not happen untill fall, depending in how fast the ice thaws & I have to get on a boat. No worries though, he’s got a heated shop I can pull the bus into! I couldn’t buy the kit from HD for that price. Some things are just better done by a professional. I don’t have much interest in improving my foaming skills anyway.

Excellent progress. If you get the foam in, you can build it out all winter long! Nice!

Tried something new today. My folks gave me a Husky special spray paint gun for Christmas. Watched a couple reviews and how to vids on YouTube, cleaned up my gutters and gave it a go with our roof paint. Love it!

Happy Mothers day to all the mom bus nuts out there. My wife (Kelly, mom of 3) has been after me to help tape off our floor plan. Today was a good day for that.

How many times did you have to change the pfloor plan as you were laying the tape?

The drawn plan that we brought into the bus yesterday looks only slightly similar to where the tape is now. We ended up pretty happy with the amount of room we have for our priority items. I have a difficult time anticipating/visualizing several steps ahead. Laying the tape has finally allowed me to start thinking about plumbing and electrical.

Well dang. Bus work is officially on “planned” hold. Work season (the kind that pays) is officially back. Sitting on the plane headed north, toward Prudhoe. Happy with our progress over the last couple months. I moved it away from the garage, to its spot for the summer after taking it for a drive. It was good to get her up to temp & see everything function well. Hadn’t done that since we parked it a year ago.
Roof is 100% leak free. All the sticker/residue removed. Floor has 3 coats of good hard paint. She’s locked up tight & dormant till I get back in October. Till then I’ll be living vicariously through you and your builds...have a great summer!

thx native...it’s three coats of a polyurethane modified allkyd (floor specific) over the plywood. The color is “North Sea”, something we are experimenting with for the exterior. I just wanted something tough that I can beat up and not stain with spilled coffee or greasy shoes while we build it out. It will also protect the floor from any subpar plumbing. Pretty sure the plumber I’m gonna hire is worthless[emoji51]. I sealed all the seams and plan on copying Yukon Cornelius, who fastened plywood up to the bottom of the chair rail with some self tappers. I’ll seal those at the floor as well so theoretically no liquids can get through. Like a containment of sorts. Not sure what we’ll finish the but thats many steps in the future.
