For sale ads

Where is the appropriate place to post a for sale ad? I am mid build and COVID has dictated I sell.

Thank you
Ryan Edmondson

"Classifieds | Buy, Sell, Swap"

Some of the details that people will undoubtedly want to know are: Approximate length, headroom, mileage, engine, transmission, A/C or not, level of rust, and whether the bus is stock, stripped, partially converted or fully converted.

There is an odd/overzealous interpretation of a rule on this forum where people's posts requesting general info are sometimes deleted/not allowed, so the more info you provide up front the better.

Best of luck with the sale.

Since when? Dumb rule to start with, obviously. But I've never heard of this.

I think the rule is to not make negative or disparaging comments about a bus somebody is trying to sell. I once asked somebody to fully list all the extras (appliances, a generator etc.) they were including since their Vista was not worth $6K by itself. That was technically seeking more info but it also included a knock on their asking price, so it was removed. As were the seller's responses, which was unfortunate because they were very amusing.

I think the rule about not ripping on a bus for sale makes sense. I would have zero chance of ever selling my bus here without it, lol.

That would be a fair and reasonable rule (and may well be the original intent of the rule) I initially I thought that is what it was all about, but its applied much broader than that, I have had earnest posts urging the seller to provide basic info about the bus and conversion deleted. I suppose the post could've been interpreted as critical in that it was critical of lack of detail, or maybe quoting details given offsite was not allowed, but it was made in good faith and was intended to be helpful.

The reason for the deletion I received was "If you are not interested in purchasing something listed in a classified ad, don't respond to it. Very simple." That is much broader than limiting negative comments. That said, I recognize mods have a sometimes hard role to play, and have to exercise there best judgement, and I recognize that it is hard to interpret tone/intent on the internet. And I do agree that the classified section did need a bit of improvement.

I think it does too, limiting off-topic or inappropriate comments is a good rule. I am still shocked by some of the negative and grumpy seeming comments about price etc in some of the for sale ads.
