i hate my starter - 1983 bluebird 9.0L diesel intn'l

finally got the last bolt out and looks like a heat shield and exhaust manifold prevent the starter from dropping out. i found one bolt on the shield which i removed. cant find the other. what else, if anything, has to be removed?

how do i get this thing to drop out? would appreciate it. thanks

i really cant help without pics?
the heat shield once you figure it out needs to go back in.
as far as the manifold?
it might be a pain but you should be able to pull the starter without dropping it.
not likely the manifold just the exhaust pipe.
dont know exactly what you have but dont give up.
if you have your starter loose and can see the bendix gear then there are test we can walk you through to see if it a starter problem.
requires jumper cables long enough to go from the battery to the starter and you to have eyes on the gear.
as mentioned even starter somewhat pulled? safety first wheels chocked anytime you are under a vehicle.

finally got the starter out. tried to send pictures but couldnt figure out the attachment here. had to detach the exhaust pipe and a bracket. i did end up cutting a window in the frame to get to some stuff but can weld it back later. now to find a new starter.

i will try to post a few pics. thanks for the encouragement.
