Question Need BRAKES!!!

Hello everyone - I am new to this community. I bought a partially done skooli it’s just awesome - 1977 with a Chevy 454 under 4000 miles. I’ve had it 3 months and still have not drove it. It is blue and white - church bus. Any who we - my mechanic and a few friends cannot find any brakes and I have to replace everything. I need some help. The skooli is worth it it purrs like a dream and wants to be driven. It’s a C/80 1977 need master cylinder - wheel cylinders the whole shebang and nowhere to be found. Any advise where to look that I haven’t already would be amazing. Thanks.

I am shocked

A c80 should have pretty common parts…. A farm oriented Napa store does not show the parts?

Some parts seem to be available Ebay.

Do a search for the M/C by the casting number. That M/C was used on other equipment. Most parts catalogs won't show interchange. So a search by year and make turns up ZIP.

By casting number it shows the other models it was used on.

I had to do a master cylinder on an 84 bluebird with a 366 I had once. Couldn't find one anywhere. Finally sent in our old one to be rebuilt at a local fab shop.

You can also check used truck parts / salvage yards if you're OK with pre-owned.

Don't you have a vacuum booster on that? Or is it hydro-boost? If it has a vacuum booster you need to replace that also.....and it's REALLY expensive and hard to find and I have been told Cardone is the only one doing booster rebuilds. They probably have a master cylinder also. I don't know how to get a hold of them so google it.

Yeah, they used those parts for a few decades. A few years back we ran into the same issue looking for a set of wheel cylinders, adjusters, and shoes on an 80's model c70 box truck. None immediately available, anything that could be had, would be a week or two out at best. A couple places offered to rebuild what we had, but I didn't get a warm fuzzy feeling from that.

They ended up yanking the box and scrapping the truck. The box was really the only thing valuable to the truck.

Can't do that with a bus, but you can swap axles out to ones off something more modern.
