I third it. Then we can start compiling manuals, spec, diagrams. etc. for various types.

Re: Proposal for new forum catogory
I think that's a good idea. There are numerous great threads floating around here and there and everywhere pertaining to this stuff, but none of them really have a fitting home.

Re: Proposal for new forum catogory
I am not convinced. I have given many people special rights to either moderate, cleanup the tutorial section, or do other things and after I give them the power they do nothing.
I would really like to see others help me expand the knowledge in the wiki, it would be the easiest way to contain a knowledge base because it would be raw information and you won't have to read through a long discussion and/or derailments. I have been at the feeling for a while that if I want to make this site into what I want it to be I will have to spend the kind of time on it that it will be like a second job because I have never been able to get the people who say they want to help to actually do it. I am really busy with other projects right now, and my bus needs a whole lot of work so I don't see me being able to do much new on the site until this winter.

Re: Proposal for new forum catogory
I think that may be because most of us are not that internet savy, I know I'm not.
Maybe if someone is willing do help out in that way they should PM you, so you can give them authority to do it. I would love to help out if I knew how.

Re: Proposal for new forum catogory
Sure there is a small learning curve but it is really easy to do especially since if you don't know how to do something you can just look at the another person did it as an example.
FYI - Anybody can add / change / modify the wiki I don't have to give them any special permissions.

Re: Proposal for new forum catogory
I'm most certainly guilty of not doing what I should. The truth is I never really did figure out exactly what I was doing. I need to do some more reading. I'm sure I can find a tutorial somewhere. It was disheartening after the wikis were lost last time. I've been so darned busy with my other various projects that I've hardly been looking at the site even. Thankfully school is done now so that should lighten the load.

Re: Proposal for new forum catogory
OK, I am about to demonstrate the vast amount of internet savvy that is barely contained within my cranium......
what is a "wiki"?

Re: Proposal for new forum catogory
Here ya go. This should explain for the most part of what a wiki is... Just keep in mind that they are normally maintained by people who claim to know alot about the subject, but have a bunch of errors in their info. Dont try to correct these errors, they put them back...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki
Reading the first post again... I would love to see the links section updated. There are a ton of places that I find that arnt on that one guys list. It would be cool to add the addresses of places that do good work, or sell products that are School Bus related. I know that I have read several people ask about the light covers, or the signal covers, or other bus parts. I have found a couple pages for parts like those, but I cant add them to the section because it is locked.
