Re: Smilies

smitty is right, I can "view more smilies" but clicking them doesnt add their code to this posting. they do work in the since of if you know the code for the smilie and you type that in yourself then they work but you need a permanent list of these to know what they are to be able to type them in manually. how about listing all smilies with their code out to the side?

the problem is intermittent for me. I just tried again and clicked the smilie and it worked to add the code to this post but now it doesnt again. but when I click on it now the code for it appears above the row of extra smilies telling me what it is.

Try http://www.myemoticons.com/ some of them are pretty good, the source code they give you isnt correct for this board, right click the smile and copy its URL between this boards IMG brackets

Works for me, what browser/version are you using?

Re: Smilies

Windows XP Pro with IE8 ver 8.0.6001.18702

I have played with this a little more and it seems normal smilies work fine and the "more smilies" code is inserted into the post fine the first time I try to use them but if I close the tab they popup in and then try again, no luck 9 out of ten times it will just show the code above the smilies without inserting into post. If I go back out of the post reply window, refresh page and then try to post again, it works as described above. seems to really be tied to how IE is handling the request on the second try.
also does this on,
Windows 7 Pro with IE8 ver 8.0.7600.16385

Re: Smilies

took a snapshot of the screen to show you how its doing, I too this while in tabbed mode but even if I switch to open the smilie selection in a new window instead of new tab it didnt help.

Re: Smilies

Well IE is your problem and made worse by the way you are browsing. Closing a tab is not the same as closing a window - it leaves the session open. If you had popups show in a separate window like they are supposed to I don't think you would have a problem.

Re: Smilies

well it does work better but not perfect if I set IE to open in another window instead of tabs but as you can see by the pic, even that fails at times.
this pic is from Windows XP Pro with IE8 ver 8.0.6001.18702 the one above from windows 7 so its not any one particular computer.
UPDATE: I just tried using IE (no add-ons) which I found in the start menu under accessories/system tools and wether pop ups are in a new window or new tab in current window it works fine so it is some kind of add-on or control. curious......

Re: Smilies

well, using the IE no add-ons eventually did the same thing too. this time, add-ons disabled, was working fine in tabbed pop-up mode.....right up until I pressed the "enter" key to drop down a line and start a new paragraph, then it did it again, same as above, code above smilies instead of in the post reply box. I can get it to work flawlessly until I press the enter key or now I find even click insde the reply box with the mouse. anymore thoughts? Smitty, you started this, will it work for you if you click "post a reply", go straight to "view more smilies" and click one? does it enter the code properly?
