For folks with more than 10 posts there won't be the bottom of page banner of ads.

Does no one else see that the word "been' is 3 places out of place, making the sentence difficult if stoned as I am.

I'm sure everyone saw it, but nobody else has the overwhelming urge to point out mistakes that you seem to have.

Don't you have some Lincoln Logs to play with or something.

the biggest issue I have is that something triggers a page refresh sometimes when im in the middle of making a post.. not sure what it is that causes it but several long posts have been lost as a result of it...

Running a forum involves time, effort, & $$.

Considering the value this forum has provided us, & no doubt countless others, the new ads are - IMO - a very small price to pay. I've noticed them for sure, but instead of being irritated it had the opposite effect. The more money you make the less chance there is this forum will dry up & blow away. So I'm happy they're here. I can ignore them just like every other ad I ignore throughout the day just the same.

I actually came into this sub-forum to post what I'm about to post now as a separate thread (suggestion), but it seems it would be more relevant here, so here it goes:

I think you should offer a subscription option. Paying members (very small annual fee) don't see ads. Obviously you could include other benefits as well if desired. The experience wouldn't change substantially whether you pay or not - so it shouldn't alienate anyone or impact those w/o the means - but it would provide a way for some to say 'thank you' in monetary manner, while getting a little something back in return by way of ad elimination.

For all I know this is the path you're already on. It's not like I'm inventing the wheel here . Regardless, of ALL the forum communities I've participated in over the years, THIS ONE is the first I'd happily pay a bit to support.

^^^^ THIS ^^^^^

My Jeep and home automation forums do this as well as my weather app.

No ads for paying members. If you are cheap you get ads if you want to pay you can and get none

This doesn't change the fact that there are more and less intrusive/disruptive ways to make money or to serve ads. Its a completely valid and reasonable complaint to object to ads that are too intrusive or disrupt or confuse the browsing experience. Its true that serving ads is a necessary evil on a free-to-use for-profit forum, but that doesn't mean people should be grateful and silent as ads become more intrusive.

There is a happy middle ground, and it is in the best interest of the corporations and of the users to be mindful of this balance. If the website has no revenue stream it might cease to exist, if the website becomes too clunky and congested with ads people may stop coming or stop participating regularly as the user experience degrades, and for a site like this where its value is its community and the contributions of users, a decline in traffic/participation could be fatal too. Balance is key.

Agreed. I thought my post made it clear I was expressing MY view of the ads, but reading it again I can see where it might come off as "what are y'all complaining about?". Not at all my intent, nor my position. I admit I'm somewhat desensitized regarding the matter.

Thank you. That bottom ad was making it difficult to view the site on my tablet.

We are new to the site and have a few comments about the ads. When I first joined the forum on our PC I thought - wow what a great resource for converting a bus! Now today I logged on through my phone and thought what a horrible experience! The ads are so intrusive I will not be able to use it mobile.

You can view the full site through mobile by scrolling down all the way to the bottom and selecting "View Full Site"... Some devices need a few rounds of this for it to take, however, and I think you have to be logged in. I don't care for the mobile version of the site, either, so I feel your pain.

It was more an issue of all the ads that threw up on my screen!

For mobile use, I recommend using Tapatalk as your reader. There are still some ads, but they are fewer, and the picture upload interface is way easier!

John
I must be Tapatalk challenged. I have never been able to get it to work with any forum I have tried to use it with.

I don't know what kind of blockers my work computer is set up with, but when I'm on it there, I don't get any ads at all. The closest I get are the article suggestions from RV Life at the bottom of each page.
