Did your adblock crash or something? I never see ads on this forum, nothing seems to have changed.

They have increased lately. There are also ads inserted within the thread body as well as on the side. It is taking longer to load pages as well.

I realize Im new but even in the last couple weeks ive been a member the increase in ads is crazy.

I realize that sites need to make money but heck, my ads have ads on them here.

1. ads are now between posts in threads
2. between thread listings in forums
3. banner ad now at the bottom of the site.

Im mean jeez wth?

#3 is THE MOST ANNOYING at a minimum can this go away?

It would be ideal if #1 and #3 could go away #2 not that distracting.

I have recently started getting an annoying pop up, on my desktop, with nothing in it at the bottom of each page.

Same here, though today I don't see the pop-up. AdBlockPlus was not helpful in blocking this either. For me, closing the pop-up reloads the page, which is also very annoying.

Reality creeps in periodically and we have to pay the bills - The ads keep the site afloat. You can click on the footer ad (X in top right) to dismiss it until the next day when you'll need to click again.

I agree.

1&2 are an annoyance but 3 takes enough real estate on my table screen that it becomes a problem reading posts.

Why do you think they wanted to buy Steve out, lots of pop up revenue, it's happening everywhere and it's quite maddening. sportyrick

Thank you Janet!
Good to know the banner at the bottom stays away for a day.

sell ad-free subscriptions..

I use this site from my mobile Hotspot often and the ads take a surprising amount of bandwidth and they also run up the CPU usage on my browser and kill my battery sooner..

My nephew just turned me on to a free-ware ad-blocker.
It's better than coffee!!!

Every site I go to runs faster w/out the streaming filth of ads...

Hey folks - the bottom banner ad has been removed for active members with 10 or more posts. Hopefully this will improve the surfing experience for dedicated members and encourage lurkers to step up their game

Thanks for your feedback and continued participation.

I'm trying to make sense of this sentence:

the bottom banner ad has removed for been active members with 10 or more posts.

if your running chrome or firefox, the extensions uBlock Origin and NoScript will change your life. Not available on Safari anymore IIRC.

I used to turn it off for this site to support it, but when the ads increased to the point of affecting my browsing experience, then they both went back on again.

Nice to see the site team is at least somewhat responsive to the needs of the community, if the ads go back to being in the background/not detracting from the browsing then skoolie.net goes back on the whitelist.
