19.5 rim conversion to 22.5

The bus I am looking has 19.5" rims 8 lug.
For ground clearance I would like to go up to 22.5 "rims.
Are there adapters or 22.5 rims that fit this lug pattern?

There are.

I have a set with 6 Alcoa 22.5's and LP 22.5 tires I will sell you for $20k.

I'll even throw in a 2004 Dodge Ram 3500 Diesel/6speed truck....

Since I have not enough experience to judge the bolt hole pattern on this rim besides that it is a 8 lug rim. This picture is of a slf thomas bus with 19.5" rims.
Is an 8 lug rim the same as that of a pick up truck . Can these adapters carry the weight?

I have a 12 pack of Lagunitas IPA I'll throw in...


The weight question would best be posed to the adapter manufacturer or seller.

I would expect that they would be ok but I think the safe bet would be to pick a set and reach out to the mfg with specific questions.

I have American Racing adapters on my Dodge and have hauled over 3000 lbs in the bed with no issues.

these 19.5 rims seems to be 8 lugs 275. similar size are also used on the kodiak and c4500.
alcoa makes a direct rim to 22.5 x 7 .... part # 873407

i do not know enough about this and am unable to actual measure the 19.5 rim, but i doubt it is the same pattern as the 8 lug dodge / ford / chevy 1 ton pickups.

No. It is *NOT* the same bolt pattern used on the 1-ton trucks. I would *NOT* use an adapter unless it was specifically made for heavy duty applications. The 8-lug pattern on your bus isn't terribly common, but appropriate wheels can be had. It is used on some medium duty truck chassis. The 1-ton wheels are *NOT* up to the task of carrying such a heavy vehicle (at least not for any length of time).

i do not own this bus yet, checked another thomas slf with a 5.9 out.
if i buy this then i wanted to know if i had option to go to the 22.5 rims and it seems i have. next question will be what tire is max possible.

I remember one tire company advertising that "your tires are the only safety feature on the road - that actually touches the road". While I do not intent to go on about any specific brand of tire, I would like to make the point that your tires (and wheels) are perhaps the most important safety item on your bus. Adapters, while alright assuming they are designed for the loads they will see, still add another link between "your bus" and the road.

Consider this. You're going down the road at highway speed and someone cuts you off, or a deer darts out in front of you, or any other factor which makes you need to make an emergency maneuver. That's going to be when it puts maximum stress on the adapters (along with everything else, if you think about it), do you *really* want the possibility for failure to be there? Wheels, lugs, tires, and everything else *could* fail, but the likelihood is exceedingly low; they are designed for the load they are carrying and you *did* check everything before you left ... *RIGHT???*
