1990 Chev/Wayne bus question

I am pulled the rear lighting system apart on my bus and I noticed that the wires are numbered.

1 looks like a ground...but see my question
2 looks like the park lights...ditto
3 is reverse
8 is the left rear signal
10 is the right rear signal

Now the question:

I looked at my brake pedal switch and it has a 2 wire off it. I know 2 is for the park lights because I checked it at the light assembly, but I had my 11 year old daughter helping me and she was pushing the clutch in when I asked her to press on the brake so I can't tell what 1 did...is it brake or ground?

Does 2 also run the brake lights? or does 1 light up the brake lights, it looks like 1 ran to the bright side of my 2 wire pigtail, now that everything is apart it is hard for me to tell

There is a 2 wire running off my brake light switch for sure though, I am wondering if the 2 off the brake switch turns to a 1 at some point, but I can't see that anywhere.

Any chevy/wayne bus owners feel like looking at their brake wires and their light assembly and telling me if 1 goes to the brake light?

Thanks much

Jeff

Re: 1990 Chev/Wayne bus question

I can go look at my wiring tomorrow (too dark now) and see if I can figure anything out for you. Do you have air brakes or hydraulic brakes? I don't think there should be any difference, but it would be worth knowing I guess.

On the back of the bus...there are the two small red lights that serve as the running lights/parking lights. They also serve as brake lights and will get brighter when your daughter steps on the right pedal. The other larger brake lights are just that....brake lights. So in all I have 4 brake lights plus the separate turn signals. Hopefully your Canadian model is the same. I will see if I can find numbered wiring tomorrow.

Re: 1990 Chev/Wayne bus question

Hydraulic brakes and thanks for looking!

I re-read your post and I figured out that I WAS checking the wrong wire

a double check shows me this:

wire # 1 is for park lights

wire # 2 is for brake lights

wire #3 is for reverse

Thanks for what you wrote, if you hadn't I wouldn't have bothered to re-check everything and I wouldn;t have fixed the problem.

Re: 1990 Chev/Wayne bus question

I'm glad you got it figured out cause I can't read any numbering on my wiring.
