1995 Genesis specs

I found a Genesis 1995. it has dt466 with 150k on it not sure if its a E. I can only seem to find them in a 12 window. 31ft from back of seat to back door with a 77" ceiling. with the yellow black paint option. Ive been wanting to find it in 40ft but this one is in good shape. I googled it and its the same bus as the family with the Good News Bus They say theirs is 35ft over all.

Is it possible to get 34ft of space? Has anyone lengthened a bus to get more space. I see lots of shortening them for car haulers so going the other way would require a rear section of a donor bus roof. as well as frame rails but i could fab that part. Any one have one? I just asked and she said she could take another 6. I think I may just have to be happy with what I have here.

Anything in particular on a bus to look at that's different from a truck. Its time to pull the trigger on this project. If all goes well I'll be in the desert this time next year.

A guy here has a a genesis for sale and says its a 39ft? Can they just be any size or is there a standard. I guess what I'm wondering is it a 40 ft. How do you know if you have found the biggest beast out there. also it has a dt466 with a 643 trans with 221k miles. I know I read IH says 550 miles to a in chassis if it has good maintenance. Is good maintenance oil changes. Do all schools do decent maintenance if you don't have records to look at.

I need 18ft of space in the rear for my car and work area. That gives me 34 or if they do have 39ft bus 33ft overall. 13 or 14 feet of living area is getting down there but I can make it work.

Ive even thought about adding 5ft to 7ft to 40ft bus. but I'm not sure of the turning being a issue or if the axle should be moved back or if that makes the turn to wide. I even thought of a 20ft box van at 102" installing it on the bus and blending the body's together and letting the extra hang over the rear and extend the frame as far as needed. Id rather do as little as possible so I can try it out and then do individual projects specific to my needs.

I happen to own the biggest beast out there, 1995 DT466 MT643 Amtran Genesis model IS3909. I am 42.5ft from hitch ball to front mirror. If I recall my buildable space is about 35ft. I would think it would be better to hold out for the right sized bus then try to make one longer or shorter unless your master level welder

IIRC there are a few districts with 42 or 43 footers.

Our IC RE's factory specifications read 42'2" with 303" wheelbase. 90 passengers. I guess if I added the hitch and mirrors, idk, add a foot.
We measured from the interior of the windshield to the interior of the rear glass at 41'9", using a 100' tape.
Dont know where to measure to compare FE vs RE, the build space goes well beyond the last window, 36" wide stairs yet flat floor to the dash. About 38' flat floor + 10" seat? Behind the stairs + rear seat, we measured 36'.
I have noticed that the FEs have additional bus to the right of the entry door, maybe some of the length is out front?

The additional 90"w x 48"h x 30"d space over the engine is a horizontal closet.

🤣Lol. Not photoshopped.

It's a long wheelbase chassis (303") made exclusively for IC, by IC. Not built by Bluebird, Thomas or Freightliner.

There's over 25ft between the axles, so the rear wheels are under the 13th window.
